  1. I guess it really depends just how good the provenance is. Largely I'd say about 5% for "good" provenance, but if it was e.g. ex-Freddie Mercury and documented, possibly up to 30% (as long as there was also enough meat left for a margin )
  2. I'm now pine-ing for someome to make me an admin so I can finally lay this thread to rest!
  3. I'd imagine that's where they go as the RM don't seem to do the final numbers when you take the sets into account.
  4. Thats what their grandparents have been doing for decades... and the longer they're held hostage the more go out of circulation, soon all these coins will be nearly unique. Slab a couple while they're good lol
  5. You lot are quackers.
  6. Amongst my numerous boxes of crap recent purcases I found the following. One is a commemorative of building the wall, apparently given to those who built it. The other is a total mystery. Oh and I'm open to offers as this stuff isn't my thing.
  7. It's a good aned enjoyable trip for sure, but choose wisely if you're flexible. Currently its a Wallace and Grommet 50p, but that will change in December. Many times the coin youu can mint will be something which is or has been produced, but very rarely you get something which doesn't exist elsewhere. The Isaac Newton 2018 50p is a prime example of that, a mule specifically for Strike Your Own.
  8. I went along again to the Royal Mint today. They have started limiting tours to one per person per day. The number of Strike your own coins you can now have is 1 per person per tour. Posting this info for members as it isn't clear from the RM site, and I had a somewhat more costly day out than expected....
  9. What does the edge inscripition say? does it even have one?
  10. seems ok for me....
  11. I guess they'll be incredibly scarce now then. R0 even
  12. Not quite sure what your link is supposed to be pointing at?
  13. Royal Mint Pete, hopefully they have a fairly good idea of what they're doing
  14. Think I remember seeing something similar showing up in a viking hoard a few years ago. If my brain kicks back in and I remember where, I'll bung a link in.
  15. I'm a convert to Quadrums too, can't recommend them enough! There is an aluminium case which comes with trays for quadrums, so you can actually store the coins securely and with many denominations in one medium. Using the size below to elimiate rattle is a must for me, I can't stand things that rattle, once you try them, you'll be hooked!
  16. Some commemorative figures are produced here but I think they're still working on getting more completed. It's taking a while.
  17. No, I was implying that change-checkers mintage figures were incomplete, and needed an update because it was missing from what they have been showing. Unfortunately my post was untimely in the fact that the mintage figures were released yesterday and just about everybody knows the new ones today.(yesterday now)
  18. I said nothing about olympic 50p's blame @PWA 1967 and @bagerap for that.. I just said that the 2017 Shield was missing, until today.
  19. I win, they added it today https://www.changechecker.org/category/blog-home/50p-coins/
  20. Changechecker haven't told Joe Public about the second rarest 50p hiding in plain site, so I've been trying to stockpile them. 2009 Kew gardens - 210,000 2017 Royal Shield - 1,800,000 2017 Sir Isaac Newton - 1,801,500 {the rest}
  21. Welcome to the forum Enjoy it and remember, there are no stupid questions.
