  1. I'd send it to the Royal Mint and ask them to verify it, if they do, you'll get a letter back which will confirm it, and this will give you and the buyer confidence that it's the real deal. This will also help it achive the best possible price, be it on ebay or through a major coin auction.
  2. Issued = coins released for circulation minted is what is says on the tin, different aspects of a production run - the only way I can see that what the RM says would fit what we know already.
  3. 2 people in a 3 legged race to the top.
  4. Hard drive shmard drive. My first computer only had a tape drive.
  5. Paddy, we've been over this. On Ebay EF means Extra Flat - an accurate grade I think lol
  6. No idea. I can't see that post in this thread. I haven't forgotten you either - I have tracked down 3 green pennies so far, but I know there are more and would rather visit the post office just once
  7. So I guess coin collecting must be subconsciously theraputic to the IT crowd
  8. Me too, but until then I have to continue doing what I'm doing now. 'Er indoors said so.
  9. I program the business systems for a well known yogurt manufacturer who has "cornered" the market.
  10. No edge inscription is normally indicative of a cheap copy as found here and therefore it's worth nothing at all
  11. I'll have a look through all my crap boxes Larry, I know I should have quite a few lying about the place.
  12. Kews seem to have been dropping with the introduction of prooflike fakes too. I think this years budget is becoming more flexible every week
  13. Pure acetone on a cotton bud if the soap and water doesn't do it (warm+ water).
  14. 1917 ? thats about my best shot at these hammered types
  15. I think anyone who pays that much for this fugly thing needs more than just shooting , I'm sure I'll find out soon if I need some ammo.
  16. Virgin do this all the time, but yes - a 12 month contract is what it says. Virgin are trying to scrap a lot of their older contracts - many are only 2g or 3g so the coverage isn't great on them. By switching you should be able to get a 4g sim and better coverage but do remember to add a calendar event so you get reminded when it's up, as they'll knock off any loyaly discount and it'd probably jump to about £10 or 11 / month - something worth checking before you commit to it!
  17. I have so much trouble spelling anyway that I probably wouldn't have noticed either way lol
  18. Thanks @Paddy, as for the date, it's a bit too destroyed to read but all I've seen would suggest that it can only be 1691 for this coin. It was found in the trackmarks of a rather large excavator, so I think it's fared quite well! As for £50, if someone wants to pay that or more, I'll happily let them (Other forms of payment are also accepted lol)
  19. I welcome some input please I found this while out walking with a spade and detector, and its actually not in terrible nick given what it appears to be. I'd be most grateful of some confirmation though, as I'm normally wrong with anything before 1722. As per the title, I think it's a James II Limerick farthing.
  20. So the RM can package up the best ones and flog them for $$$ as "historic"?
  21. Thanks @Paulus , even better in the hand! - especially when it's my hand and not @UPINSMOKE's Excuse teh crappy phone photos, no decent toys here at work.
  22. This is the thing, I doubt there will have been many shields given that so many others have been minted, and along side the 2017's there were huge numbers of comems in 2016 too, so it could be that finding an escaped one might just be lucky!
  23. I think I'll be waiting a bit longer yet. Coin distribution to "somwhere off the beaten track" is a little slow.
