  1. As long as notes exist, coins will be required for change. When cash doesn't exist in monetary form it will be a sad day, charities and homeless people will suffer greatly from the inability to donate loose change.
  2. I believe its to do with how the cash distribution hubs handle coinage. As there is so much "good" coinage, much of it is re-bagged and recirculated, rather than bags of new coins being issued. Pretty much every bank and PO I've asked in has all said the same - they get sealed bags of recycled coins, and none so far have admitted even handling any new 10p's. With the rise of contactless, there is much less active coinage, so it becomes less likely to see new coins until long after their minting date. Some is definitely creeping out, but the general feeling is that those who find the bags of magic coins (PO workers etc) might be the ones saving it for family and friends, rather than it all reaching joe public.
  3. All the things that hurt after a nice jam up on the M5 in summer
  4. Looks like it would benefit from a gentle rinse, but as Rob says, it's been about a bit.
  5. If it is real, I never want one. That's horrible.
  6. man thats fugly.
  7. I'm starting to think I might need to get them all out and do it again.... but then most of them are so crappy. Although LCA has sold worse onees than I own for a premium. Maybe I'll check them again tomorrow just to be tripple-quadoubli-thirty-something sure.
  8. Just post me a couple of kilos worth
  9. Hmm, something else to hunt down lol
  10. I think I'm going to avoid the M5 completely this weekend, the weather forecast suggests it will be a massive car park for the whole weekend. Sorry @Paddy, not this weekend!
  11. If it wasn't for posts here, I'd have slung the lot in the shitebin and left it, but seeing people post that they're struggling for these oddities filled my morning waiting for Amazon @zookeeperz thanks for the wisdom earlier - it cleared up my difficulty in A and B reverses, as measuring doesn't work obviously
  12. Thanks .. I think I looked at too many pennies this morning, it was only about 400 or so Wish the Freeman book had these words of wisdom!!
  13. All of my Obverse 2 1913's have this reverse so I assume it's B as I verily doubt I'd have 9 2+A's
  14. I've been sorting through my pile of crap unresearched coins, and think this may be an F175. Please feel free to comment but do try not to laugh your ass off at how shite some of my coinage is lol
  15. 1935 both incuse and raised have no reeding. 1854 also has no reeding.
  16. I dunno, I set mine up once (carefully) and haven't changed it since.
  17. If your budget will stretch to a second hand (or even new) minelab E-Trac, thats probably the best one out there, although anyone who owns a detector will have their own opinion. I know from my own experience that I don't miss anything - last trip out I managed a total of 5 minims, along with around 40 other Roman coins.
  18. I have to say @Rob, thats one gorgeous proof!
  19. Thats quite an achievement to gather up so many, how many tribes are represented there?
  20. aBsolutely Extremely Flat. I think is about right
  21. what a stellar collection. Hoard?
  22. Looks like a good few days ut there! I need to dust the old detector off and get outdoors soon!
  23. Oh, been oput digging then ?
