The suspense is killing me

The only time I can see Simon's hand is in the competition pieces of 1651. Even 'fine work' pieces dated 1651 are of a much lower standard and probably, as you point out, cut by the under-gravers. Upon re-reading Oman it is now clear to me that he is referring to reproducing the breeches design for the 1651 milled pieces. Simon probably, therefore, had little or no involvement with the original 1649 engraving, maybe assisting only in helping to sketch out a design (?). Brooke then is also correct, in referring to the 1649 pieces, by stating that they were indeed the work of the under-gravers. Clear now, thanks👍

Not strictly related to the topic at hand but still a question related to the Commonwealth coinage however after the appointment of Simon. Brooke, in English Coins, mentions that the breeches coinage was probably the work of under-gravers East and Burgh whereas Oman, in the Coinage of England, states "... Simon, the talented engraver to the mint, must have chafed sadly at the bald design that he was directed to reproduce." Considering that both books were published within a year of each other, and by such learned scholars, I find it strange that they held such varying opinions. Any thoughts?

Looks like SW Coins are no more. Some poor Ebay feedback toward the end of 2019 and no longer a registered user. His website is no longer functioning and Company accounts confirmation is overdue. His wife also resigned as director end of 2019. He did have the odd, often overpriced, item of interest.

Good tune. One of the founders of May Blitz was Terry Poole, ex-Bakerloo, who apparently later joined Vinegar Joe. Strangely though, I can't find mention of him in lists of former VJ members, only Steve York, and Nick South. I presume he didn't stay long.

I'll be interested to see how Rowley Butters' (JP Morgan) Reddite Crown does at Heritage Auctions. It hammered at £65k in September last year and is now up for sale again, currently around the $30k mark. It went for £25k in 2008. Shame it has had such a hard life, lovely coin otherwise, and rarer than the Petition Crown.

Oh my, my sides are aching. Has anyone received one of those emails claiming to have recorded footage of you, via your webcam, masturbating to porn sites, and threatening to send it to all your contacts? I just received one from some ignorant Indian (predicable) chancer, those guys need to get a life, saddos. I told him to send it to the Daily Mail as they are dumb enough to pay for videos and I'd have my 15 minutes of fame at someone else's expense. I seriously wonder if anyone actually falls for that crap?
