  1. Free postage though
  2. https://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/17/us/john-j-ford-jr-81-dies-coin-dealer-and-collector.html
  3. If it was a polished disk then I agree, but the overall dimensions do not take into account any variances in reeding/relief/embossing. The volume of displaced water accounts for this.
  4. I find it hilarious that the 'k' in 'Manc-Wan*s' is replaced by an asterisk however the word at the end of the sentence is totally devoid of censure. I always thought that the latter was higher regarding its order of precedence on the Offence table.
  5. Specific gravity test - there are enough demos on YouTube
  6. How weird, I’ve got that ‘vu jàDé’ feeling that I’ve never seen it mentioned before.
  7. Apparently there’s a plastic mancus but that’s from London.
  8. Wasn't sure where to ask this question but as it is related to provenance research this is as good a place as any I suppose. It's a long shot, but does anyone currently have access to the Gale Cengage Eighteenth Century Collections Online database? And if so would you be willing to access/download a document for me? thx Paul
  9. There's a copy on eBay now. Not sure if priced https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hn-Glendining-Co-Catalogue-of-Provincial-Tokens-of-18TH-Century-1958-cb308/254481367683?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225075%26meid%3D16974f583f5a4f378398a9103258d9a9%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D114287901941%26itm%3D254481367683%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2060778&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507
  10. looks like it was made yesterday👍🏽
  11. Trump’s still got the edge
  12. someone who's easily impressed https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/very-rare-1967-one-penny-coin-it-s-amazing-how-big-it-is/143311843467?hash=item215e0d308b:g:DKQAAOSwV7NdFjKI
  13. Blakeyboy drew my attention to the fact that the recent topic concerning the Wyon Cambridge medal is no more, ceased to be, as it were. 🤔
  14. Re: catalogue cost This handwritten calculation was entered in the sale catalogue along with names of buyers. Cost of printing was not insignificant
  15. I'm trawling through American auction catalogues to find the provenance of a Cromwell coin I own and came across, "Ralph Barker's Collection dd 1904". I was stunned to see full-colour plates in such an early catalogue, beautiful quality. The Newark siege half-crown looks particularly identifiable with the red wax identifiers, unless NGC have 'conserved' it that is.😂
  16. Mike, you could mount your phone on a stand and use a remote control to avoid motion. This one mentions control of the camera for photographs but I would think that video control should be possible. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Satechi-Bluetooth-Multi-Media-compatible-Microsoft/dp/B00824948U
  17. If they’re not up to scratch we know where to find you Wayne 🥾 😂😂😂😂 i’m sure they’ll be great and if not you’ve still pointed us in the right direction 😉.
  18. Me too, good idea, thanks Wayne👍🏽
  19. Welby is gullible enough to believe in the immaculate conception (by accepting that Jesus is the son of God) so why does his naive credulity not extend to the more plausible notion of Jesus being born white? Surely, to an intelligent mind, a genetic malfunction is more plausible than believing that Mary was impregnated by an intangible entity. Of course, Jesus, being a Nazarene, is more likely to have had a dark skin, that is obvious, but then one would think that Welby would do better not to pander to the lowest common denominator but address the more important question of how did he get here in the first place. To quote Mr. Hitchens “What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence”
  20. I was contemplating bidding on this on Ebay as an F/E but then decided it was a filled die, what do you think? It went for £50 with 23 bids so I suppose others might have thought likewise.
  21. Adulterous desires being compared to false coining, whatever next? - a false coyner in natures mint. Who'd have thought our humble coins conjured up so much sexual imagery in bygone days. Love it.
