  1. I'd forgotten about that sword. Yeah its a milled coin so condition is better. I've a couple of high Q Briots myself. I still think its fishy though , can't put my finger on it though. I think I've seen the seller with fakes before and thats why i initially thought it was a fake. Totally agree about the price as well, its high. Generally people selling fakes on eBay continue to do so repeatedly, least thats what I've observed. I wonder if it could be an electotype. Be worth adding him as a fav seller and monitoring what he's selling. Another identical one may appear.
  2. I saw that when it was first listed. My thoughts where exactly the same. Its pristine. I've never seen a coin of that age looking so untouched by time. Its definitely suspect. Something is not right about it. Gut instinct is screaming no!
  3. Really? Unbelievable that. You'd of thought they would pull it the amount of reports they must of had. I didn't get round to ringing pennywise. If it appears again i will. Did anybody email the guy telling him it was a copy?
  4. The cost of slabbing that plus postage probably exceeds its value. I'd pay no more than £20-25 for that outside that holder. The mind boggles sometimes when i see some slabbed coins. It's not even a rare coin either.
  5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182763263841 Pulled!! ?
  6. As Rob says the company manufacturing them is not setting out to deceive. That little stamp or a symbol signifying its a replica has to be placed on it by law. I am trying to find out which company it is that makes them so i can get access to their stock catalogue. That should help us identify all of these replicas in the future.
  7. I reported it yesterday when it relisted. It ended normally. Its a cast copy. One of those dodgy little heart ones we've all seen lots of. Usually lizzie sixpences or charles II half groats. If i get chance tommorow I'll ring pennywise and let him know. He may ring eBay to complain. He's not verified that.
  8. Reported! Does anyone have any contact with pennywise in Bolton? He needs a look at this so he can contact the police. There's no way he's okayed that lump. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Charles-l-Civil-War-Hammered-Seige-Coin-/182746366285
  9. What an idiot lol. ? . Look before you leap not one of his strong points ?
  10. Some people eh!. Really wow , what a dick. Glad you got it sorted in the end. Wonder what his problem was? Sounds like a right weirdo.
  11. It could of been if I'd of wanted too. It was in an airtight container. Didn't fancy it at the time.
  12. I know. I had to put my reading glasses on to see that. Minuscule writing on my phone screen.
  13. Nice half penny. I have a few of his pennys. As john says the internets not much use for scottish coinage, I've struggled in the past myself to find any information out about coins of Alexander III . Picture is from Spinks Coins of Scotland , Ireland and the Islands. Anglo Gallic coins 2015. Regards Stu.
  14. Agreed. I think your probably spot on about a minimum number of reports. They only seem to get pulled after we've posted them on here , when i used to report them as an individual they would mostly complete on to sale. I've laid off emailing sellers as i got a death threat off one idiot who was supposedly a reputable dealer or that was the persona he was trying to project online. I did some background checks on him and his details where murky , none existent shops and addresses etc , thats when i realized some of these people are criminals not just hard up kids trying to make a few quid. In the future I'll just continue to report them and post them here for group reporting , I'll let other people email them if they wish , i fear diplomacy isn't my strong point when people start getting cocky lol. Stu.
  15. I know. Highly unlikely to send it back to mother russia either if they realise its rubbish. Judging by the quality of some of these unmarked reproductions the hobbies heading into real trouble in the future, i wouldn't like to be starting up now its a minefield.
  16. Oh well we can't win em all i guess. Probably sold before it was investigated. I bought an exact one of those for my son about 2 years ago , £1.99. There very thick and heavy with a milled edge.
  17. Job well done. All 3 ended. ? Thanks everyone.
  18. ? no way ha ha. Thats brilliant. Happy days. I bet you've got some crazy stories to tell. You've done the right thing leaving Liverpool for Cambridge. Good choice mate. Going slope off to bed mate. Catch you later. ?
  19. My mum and dad left Dovecote ( Stone field Rd)in the late 70s and dragged us all to Skem. I don't remember much about there as i was born in 73. Did regularly pop back to visit family there til the late 90s but sadly they have all passed now and I've got no more family there. The rest of my family live in Skelmersdale still apart from my parents who moved up to Clitheroe before i did. I had a messy breakup with my ex then ended up getting full custody of both my kids who where under ten at the time. Right mess. I was told if i wanted custody i had to leave skem for family support so i came here. Bit traumatic for all of us , i lost my job my house and friends. Kids have only just settled down now.
  20. Ha ha. I've seen those myself a few times. Quite a few were painted up with clothes. There was abit of a moan about vandalism but it was all in good taste. Looks like its fading on them now. Lifes not too bad in Clitheroe. I miss my old friends but i occasionally see them when they drive up. Originally i was from Dovecote but I've also lived in Skelmersdale . Strange place that was lol some right nutters there.?
  21. I've reported all three also. Hopefully they will get pulled. I've not seen many replicas on ebay lately then wham three all in the space of a few hours. Couple of clowns them two , if it was a geniune coin it wouldn't be worth that much anyway.
  22. Same price , same coin, same town, same description. Same scam. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253134669300
  23. Reported! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/King-Charles-I-hammered-silver-threepence-coin-/172852041995
  24. Some mug will buy it as it's Baldwin's. This is why I don't buy from these big name dealers. Rubbish at inflated prices!.
