  1. What an oddity. It has a similiar reverse of a Geo III 1799 coin. Judging by the wear it looks like its seen some action. Never seen anything like it before. It must be some kind of token or evasion piece.
  2. It varies from county to county. 3 months - 18 months in some cases depending on the work loads of each museum.
  3. Mine was a Pax penny of William Ist or 2nd. It was one of the first coins i ever saw in books that got me interested in hammereds as a kid. So i bought one...
  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1562-Queen-Elizabeth-1st-hammered-six-pence-Coin/272892989409
  5. Worth a look if you collect sixpences i suppose. I did see the 2016 ones early in the year but they had all sold by then. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Royal-Mint-Silver-Sixpence-2017-Coin-Presentation-Pack-Christmas-/122755519368
  6. Maybe something to do with the Empire. The ear on the Elephant suggests its an Indian Elephant. Indian troops were enlisted in the british army so I'd hazard a guess its probably the work of a bored indian solider. To some indians the elephant is a sacred animal. They worship them as one of their gods. (Ganesh) The indians had a major rebellion in 1857 against british rule. So it could also be the 10 year anniversary of that. Quite often defacement of crown coins is done for political reasons.
  7. Welcome Dave. Awesome images ! Excellent work.
  8. Reported also!
  9. No mate. I just clicked on trade and found that link to the coin stock page.
  10. Different coins. Just found their catalogue. Shocking. There isn't much they are not replicating. http://trade.ancestors.co.uk/products/timeline/coins
  11. They are a pain in the arse at the moment. Starting to see more and more different types. Think this is the company making them. http://www.ancestors.co.uk/index.php
  12. Fake. The little heart on the reverse left of the sheild shows its a replica. Fairly common one that we see a lot. Here's a few others from the same company in their packaging. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANCESTORS-4-COIN-HAMMERED-NOVELTY-REPRODUCTIONS-in-sealed-packs/192335788555
  13. Reported! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1562-Queen-Elizabeth-1st-hammered-coin/162714688912
  14. I have two piedforts. The 1990 & 1994. Picked them up cheap a few years ago as investments.
  15. Nice selection of historical coins. Well done! ?
  16. The reverse legend is nonsense and the obverse legends incorrect from any Edward coins ive seen. It doesn't make sense , thats the major giveaway. Plus as you say its sharp and bright. You do see nonsensical legends on continental coins imitating english coins but you can see there aged and are contemporary to the period, this does not look old. When i first saw it on eBay with the sellers pictures i thought it looked plastic or pewter.
  17. There's a few companies make them. Grunal is a guess. I am certain its a fantasy mix up. It does not meet the criteria of any Edward coins that I've ever seen.
  18. No. He tends to put nonsensical legends on them. Sometimes Civitas Grunal but mainly just random letters.
  19. Looking at it close up now I'd say its one of dave greenhalgh. (Moneta Grunal).
  20. 5th October.
  21. Think i posted this in eBays worst offerings last week. I felt it was a replica.
  22. Bring on the gimp ?
  23. Nice coin. Nothing wrong with pecks. It tells a story. I keep meaning to buy one of these myself but get side tracked by other purchases. Definitely on my near future list though.
  24. Disappointed ! ? https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/162695896234 I think i am going to have to buy one of these and list it on ebay as a fake with a million pound price mark so it stays there as a warning to others. Sick to the back teeth of seeing these go for hundreds of pounds. Its ridiculous
  25. That is bad. I've got a few hq pieces i want slabbed myself but unsure as Nomortuus is on who to use. I ain't sending them overseas. Its bloody difficult having seen those images above.
