Finally managed to obtain a choice specimen F148 1897 high tide, after many years of one just eluding me. Private sale arranged with Cooper's Coins before it went on their website. Special nod to Pete for the heads up.

Then there's the one you can't tell in written form. Unless you try phonetically? There were thirtysiksheep in a field. One died, how many are left? To which most people would say "35" And you would say "No, 29" As their brow furrowed deeper, you would say slowly and carefully "There were thirty sick sheep in a field..."2 points

Wow....I paid what I think is a lot for a nice EF one a few years ago, but mine looks like it was sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters compared to your one!2 points

Furthermore, the Eastern European fakes cited are very convincing compared to others from that region that always seem to 'jump out' as counterfeits. I just got lucky, chaps. Also, I've been waiting a very long time. It was expensive, but still a very fair price for something as good. They are astoundingly difficult to locate in high grade, especially as high grade as this specimen. Don't think I'll need to upgrade anytime soon.1 point

I had one a few years ago in a transport cafe on the A5, which was like rubber. If I hadn't been so starving at the time, I might have sent it back. Another one of my Gran's old weather sayings: "if it thunders at all, it will thunder at Thurrock". No idea where she go that from, but I don't think it had any validity.1 point
