singlemom29 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 All,I have just found a coin in my attic. It is very old. Over 100 years. It says 1912 One Penny. Does anyone know if it is worth anything. I did a quick check on ebay and was disappointed to find most selling for under £ 100. The range seems to be from £ 2 - £ 299. How can I identify how much the coin is worth?Ta and CheerioSally Winterbourne Quote
Nick Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Condition is everything, Sally. If it is fairly worn, it will be worth very little. For it to be worth more, it would need to be uncirculated (or very nearly so) in which case it could be worth a few 10's of pounds. If it is a Heaton penny (small H to the left of the date), it will be worth more than a standard penny. If you can post a picture, one of the penny boys will be able to give you a value. Quote
jacinbox Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Agree with NickIf your coin is uncirculated (full mint shine and clear details without any scratches or blemishes) then it maybe worth upto £ 35. For worn coins the price offered could be less than £ 1.However there are some 1912 variants that are scarceThe 1912 H penny in uncirculated can be worth £ 130.The 1912 2 on 1 can be worth a lot more.A photo could help Quote
Peter Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 This is the rare 1912H in GVF ishhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400845958830?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITLess than £7 I believe it was a good buy and will be an improver for my daughters collection Quote

Maybe £70? Then again, I don't really collect pennies. My best is a 1919KN in fine, or '02 in UNC! Quote

If it's got sentimental value then it's worth keeping, but monetarily speaking you really would have to pay someone to take it off you because of the amount of corrosion/verdigris. Not the best patina shall we say haha. Quote
Guest guest georgie Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Lol thank you for taking a look ?. Quote
Garrett Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Looks like it wasn't a bad coin when it got lost ! Quote
