Cast iron VF but not worth much.Very common.Retail about £20.

There are 2 types with and without hearts in the reverse shield.

Cast iron?? I think it's probably sterling silver, but agree with VF! Hearts and no hearts worth about the same, maybe £25-30 on the Bay.

Definitely GVF minimum. There is very very little observable wear, and remember this is a sixpence shown at three times life size or even more.

Start smelling your steak...Paulus.I reckon Mrs Peter has sneeked the coins and hidden them somewhere. I'm in a good mood as I had a small sniff on Chile tonight and Ascot wasn't bad. ;)

Only thing that is going wrong I'm having my 2nd bout of gout in 10 years and I can't drive a car with a clutch...left foot big toe Arrgh.....I can spin this out for a couple more days for footie and racing...cup of tea on the hour and I'm master of the big TV.

Hopefully I have a good Contract starting in July.

I blame the gout on my eldest daughter who is being trained up as a sous chef at the local Al a Carte.

I've been assured gout is one of those things that can be controlled by lifestyle. Cyder vinegar and hot lemon plenty of water OK but,no beer/offal/oily fish.

Pleased you got some good results on sales it proves you have a good eye.

4's

Trouble is I've got 4's on Cameroon.

I thought I was in for a payday on the Aussies at 12's but their tail let me down.

But that goal by Cahill was something, wasn't it?

Hi Guys, been a while since I posted, I've not had any money so have tried not to look at coins so that I wouldn't be tempted :) Anyway, I have dipped my toes in again, and have bought the following 1787 6d off eBay. In all likelihood I'm going to contact the seller because what I have received is not the item in the picture. However, before I do that, could you just cast your eyes over it? I notice that the "A"s in Gratia on the obverse are unbarred, also on the reverse, the "A.T.E.T.E" seems to be more bold than the rest of the letters and the "87" in the 1787 does not seem to be too well aligned. What are your thoughts on this?

It will be ok. There are many dies used for this and the shilling. Seuk might have done some in depth work on this, otherwise there is the 2004 BNJ which although primarily concerned with the shillings has a lot of info re sixpences in the appendices and the postscript has a list of references pertaining to both denominations.
