Lol, our toys in Dundee were a little more dangerous and consisted of Black widow catapults with ballbearings as ammo and air rifles. I still have legendary status after getting hit by a pellet at almost point balnk range, coming to within an inch of my eye when i was 14. Or the time when one of My friends brought 10 penknives into School and we were all slashing each other with them.

Then there was the time i was hit on the bac of the head with an ornamental tomohawk, just as well it was blunt and

Rounded or else my freaking head would have been off

Ahhhhh, i miss those days, great times and scars

You make my childhood weekends of shotguns, mucking around on tractors and breaking my neck sound tame!!

We are all getting nostalgic here for the time when it was up to the indvidual to make his own fun rather than buy it in the local toy superstore. When children were no longer compelled to climb chimneys, but could do so of their own volition. When 12 year olds could go haymaking without any interference from Health & Safety and when the nanny state didn't require everyone up to the age of 16 to wear a nappy. In those days you could fart to your heart's content. These days you need a gas safety certificate.

I've just got to tell you this, as it only ever happened to me twice! Two summers running in the late seventies, as an 11 year-old, I 'helped' the local farm staff by stacking the bales into sixes...the reward...and this honestly happened...I was allowed to sit beside the tractors at lunch break and share in, and this just sounds too twee, and you'll never see the likes of it again, but I shared in cheese, bread, pickled onions, and farm cider! Unbelievable, but true! It really was the done thing back then! Now they really WERE good old Somerset days!

Nothing wrong with that. People had a much more relaxed attitude then as they do now. But you also have to remember that in the seventies you went round the field picking up the bales and manually stacking them on the trailer. Good for keeping fit. Now everything's automated with the emphasis on the individual doing as little physical activity as possible. A real case of 'Heavier than your smart phone? - Better get some lifting gear.'

Still doing the haymaking the old fashioned way on our farm. We even rake the corners out with garden tools so the baler can get it picked up. We stack in eights! The baler, of course, is early 1950s and spits out proper oblong bales that you can heave onto a trailer without a forklift. Pick them up with the knots to the left so you don't rip your legs on the spiky end of the stalks. 50 bales to a trailer, 4 high and two on top.

Marvellous.

Well sorry to interrupt the trip down memory lane which I whole heartedly agree with, my best friend ran a farm and I remember trying to help herd the sheep for dipping on a number of occasions or attempting to catch the ram!!! Ouch if you got the timing wrong!

Oh I was meant to be interrupting the nostalgia! ;)

Mmmmmm who believes this description? I must get this seller to make a step by step guide on how to take fantastic pictures! :P

Awesome 1919KN for sale Ha Ha!

Yes Silvia and Pauline, interesting times. That was my first introduction to coin collecting, started with a run of thrupenny bits. :o

Anyone want to buy some high grade slabs, they may even have some coins in them.

Slabs for sale

So, 20 slabs of MS67s per box, 3 boxes available. I hope someone isn't trying to charge a premium for these things because that's a lot of coins to shift. I guess this is where it helps to have people who collect by number and who couldn't care less about the contents.

I'm assuming that you're the winning bidder, Stuart?

Cripes, no!

I couldn't see for a moment where he'd got the 1 or the 7 from...it would need a very complex overlay of PM's to get a 7 in there! The LIS and lion punches say straight forward '62...I didn't 'mail him!

I did email someone about a threefarthings that wasn't, and got a really decent response...he's even going to go for a BCW book! I reckon I've sold 4 or 5 of those now...should be on commission! :)

 Missing out on a corker, Stuart!

Yes, I do find some of the conversations with some eBayers most amusing. I especially like the varying responses when notifying someone of a fake. It makes for a good indicator of character...

I often do searches on 1562 sixpences (3d Size) or guinea's (brass of course) enlighten the sellers who sometimes give abuse. :)

I do take delight in telling buyers what they have been ripped off for....and their thanks.

Again, not so much a laugh as a jaw dropper.

Mega Rare 1983 2p NEW PENCE - ROYAL MINT ERROR

£1250 with 40 minutes to go. OK, pretty scarce. But that's pricey for a modern decimal UK issue coin!

Plus I've never seen quite what difference it makes if it's in a Heinz or Martini set, as surely it's just the one coin you'd be interested in?

I could get quite a few very nice coins for that amount.

The £1250. Not the price of a pint. I'll leave that trick to scott! :P
