Coinery Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I would venture to suggest that marketing really isn't this seller's strong point;http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261125731603?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649It would be something of a disappointment to make it to 110 year's old, and be given a polished penny worth, well, not a penny! Debbie Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Yes a bit of narrow market! On his other coins it says "cleaned before posting..." Quote

Peter Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) VG-8? i think it is better then VG-8That would stand out as UNC in your collection. Only kidding Scott.I agree with you.It is a very nice (but less than fine)The wear on the central reverse spoils it.I would buy it on a whim for £30.Post note...bloody hell it is £44 with 2 hrs to go. Paulus Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 VG-8? i think it is better then VG-8I just hadn't seen such a low grade slabbed, and yes it does seem a little harsh! VG 8 is equivalent to Fair I believe, i.e. 'very little detail visible' Quote
Peter Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Surprised the Yanks didn't give it Fine and listed it as a shilling.Actually I have a few NGC/PCGS slabs which I haven't broken out.Maybe one day.Once they get post MS63 the coins are usually OK A/UNC UNCish. What I do notice NGC/PCGS are grading brand new coins...FFS go to the bank.Talk about the tail wagging the dog. VG 8 is equivalent to Fair I believe, i.e. 'very little detail visible'I don't rate it higher than Fair tbh. The obverse is a bit better, but the reverse is verging on Poor in places.I would say that Fair is "very little finer details visible", but the legend and main design should still be discernible. The portrait should be more than a silhouette too, though there would be precious little hair detail if any. Quote

WHO KNOWS WHAT FUTURE VALUE THESE WILL HAVE?. I HAVE SPENT MANY YEARS BUILDING UP THIS COLLECTION ( APPROXIMATELY 150 IN 1 GRAM SACHETS )OF INFLATION PROOF "FUTURE CURRENCY" FROM ( JUST IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T GUESSED YET ), CERTAIN BAGS OF THINLY SLICED FRIED POTATO SNACKS, NOT FROM "SALT YOUR OWN" OR OTHER GENERIC COPIES, BUT FROM THE ORIGINATORS OF SAID SNACK. SOME OF THE SACHETS ARE INCREDIBLY RARE, YOU KNOW SOMETIMES WHEN YOU OPEN A PACK AND NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU SEARCH THE SACHET IS MISSING, THEN MONTHS LATER THE MISSING ONE TURNS UP IN A DIFFERENT BAG ALONG WITH ANOTHER ONE! I MEAN, HOW LUCKY IS THAT? THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE OF THESE IN THIS COLLECTION, BUT SINCE I DROPPED THEM I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONES THEY ARE NOW, PERHAPS I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT A BIT MORE ABOUT THAT ONE. ANYWAY, SOMETHING HAS CROPPED UP THAT I NEED ORDINARY " MONEY" FOR AND THE PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP DON'T APPEAR TO HAVE THE SAME FORESIGHT REGARDING THE FUTURE VALUE OF THESE AS I DO! SO UNFORTUNATELY I WILL HAVE TO TRADE EARLIER THAN EXPECTED. SO BE PREPARED, GET SOME FUTURE PROOF CURRENCY NOW BEFORE EVERYONE CATCHES ON OR HEAVEN FORBID I'M BOUGHT OUT BY BILLY GATES. " Quote
