azda Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Is that not a broken 6? The shape looks very similar...No, if you look at it carefully, the top serif of the 5 slopes upwards rather than the normal straight line, but then again, better asking the farthing boys Quote
Peter Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Not a laugh. I've emailed the seller.http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&rt=nc&item=170735578837Maybe they are pewter collectors. Quote

Peter Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) It is sad that people only read what they want to.The pewter 6d sold for £21+ and the same bidder is the highest bidder on another one in a few days time.If he wins that one too just maybe he will realise his muppetology.Another one of these sold a while back for £50+.I managed to find the buyer through feedback...he was an old boy and quite shocked it wasn't real.Last I heard he was having difficulties getting his money back. From my knight in armour exploits (also advising buyers they have bought gaming tokens and not guinea's)Most seem to be young or old and not always novice's. Gary D Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Can anyone explain what was going on here. I initially suspected shill bidding as the seller's feedback is 22, but after looking at the bidders I'm not so sure...WTF Quote

It can't be for the coin values, so it must be for the silver content. 6 pre 1920 florins = approx 2 troy ounces of silver @ £20 per oz.I must try the same myself, I've got plenty of pre-1920 crap I could let go - especially for £20 an oz. Peter Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 A bargain...who pays for this to be slabbed though ...and why http://www.ebay.com/itm/Great-Britain-Penny-1971-NGC-MS-60-BN-Elizabeth-II-/250925254208?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6c4f8640 Quote

You can't give away the 1971 RM sets in the wallets, not even for a quid. Must have added value with the obtrusive fingerprint on the reverse - probably some celeb's or the like. Quote
Peter Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Wow the grading would be spot on if described as GF with bad scratching.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Great-Britain-Penny-1971-NGC-MS-60-BN-Elizabeth-II-/250925254208?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6c4f8640 Quote

If inflation hits 500,000% you will be quids in, and you get $5 back with 6 months to pay off the debt. Am I being overly cautious, or does offering credit on an admittedly overpriced but still only £15 purchase, smack of desperation to sell. If you are considering taking credit terms out on this the money would be better spent on a private appointment with a man in a white coat. Quote
Peter Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 How not to sell a rarer type coin.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Victoria-Penny-1897-extremely-rare-type-/180763615153?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item2a1659dfb1&autorefresh=true Quote

Generic Lad Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Great condition! And a rotated die too! Quote
Accumulator Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Not so much a laugh, but how on earth has this 1860 penny 3+D (as far as I can see from the rather low res pics) reached £550 with 15 hours to go? Am I missing something? Quote

Not quite as rare as people make out but a nice example and price probably about right... Quote

The nub on the bottom of the N was the giveaway.....Mine is nice, but not as nice.... But the bidding as of now is beyond my budget for just an upgrade... Peter Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Some nice coins there.Strange that a 1d collector didn't know what he had.Or maybe its an inheritance.Even if it was the latter the actual collector would surely catalogue what he had. Quote
