big jar of wasps Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 There have been loads of quality auctions on ebay, but one that I did find very interesting was a kilo of gold, which sold for a few hundred quid, the dealer was from China, and again the pages were stright out of the Chard website. I wonder if the buyer ever received his kilo of gold. I have my doubts!!!!!! Quote

If in doubt leave it out is particularly pertinent to ebay listings. Quote

Obviously I would not be willing to take a chance if more money was involved. I also bought this one1845 Farthing nEF This one, although the grading was Ok did have defects. Small areas of verdigris, but at £7,99 was not a great loss. Quote

On several occasions I have (politely) suggested to people that they would get more money for their ebay items if only their photos were better. For the most part I feel I am ignored. Now forgive me for being avaricious, but quite frankly I am on a small budget. I only sell stuff on ebay to get money with which I can then buy more coins! I take time to make my listings presentable and my photos as accurate as I can. It still only takes me 30 minutes and if as a result I get a few more quid I think it's time well spent. I want my buyers to be happy and to feel I have got a reasonable price.Now I think you have been very lucky Gary, but effectively this guy is almost giving things away! His 'kryptonite' coins are perhaps going to attract a few chancers but no real money, so why does he bother? Quote
