1949threepence Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Yes indeed - thanks Pete. A nice 1877 narrow date penny, but beyond my price range at the moment. Nothing else much of interest. Quote

So, if you are there, would appreciate just keeping an eye on the bidding to ensure that it is all above board. I can give you the details in a PM if you do decide to go. Quote

jaggy Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I got confirmation of my 'wins' from LCA. I got the 1848 sixpence and the 1884 sixpence. 1 Quote

I've seen about 6 of the different 1877 narrow dates, and the one at the LCA auction is by far the best one of all of them. I was going to bid on it, but felt it would get into 10k pounds, because of the condition, and that was more than I wanted to pay. I would bet money it went to Cardiff! He already has three of them! 😊 Quote

The one in the LCA Auction was in better condition, in my opinion, though mine went for more than twice the LCA price! 1 Quote

Although with another bidder in the equation it might have pushed the bid to beyond my limit. I suppose Cardiff's logic is that the more he possesses, the more the price each individual piece still remaining will command, as the rarity is increased considerably with each one removed from potential future sale. 1 Quote

It's not as nice as the one you sold Bob. 2 Quote
