I have one but no spare Pete, sorry. I still need 2002 Scotland, Wales, both 2008 Olympics, 2011 King James Bible, 2015 Royal Navy, 2016 Shakespeare comedies, Britannia, Army and Great Fire of London. I refuse to pay more than face value for circulating decimals. I still need 13 Olympic 50ps. I was a bit late to the party collecting those.
  2. Just battered and bruised I think.
  3. Just a damaged 1886 I think?
  4. Did you have any luck Brian?
  5. No issues for me either Mike.
  6. That's a very nice find for 50p. Personally I wouldn't get it slabbed but if you're just looking to sell it it might be worth it.
  7. He's sold 5 so far.
  8. Well, you know what you're getting.
  9. Somewhat damning description on the slab. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1877-Indian-Cent-Penny-1C-Certified-ANACS-VG8-Details-Rare-Key-Date-Coin-/142484906175?hash=item212cc320bf:g:oC4AAOSwoydWpU8g
  10. It's caused during the striking process when the two dies clash together without a blank planchet in between. Part of the design is then transferred to the opposing die. Subsequent coins struck will then have a faint impression from the other side, as yours does. In modern production this is likely to affect large numbers of coins so I don't think you could class it as rare.
  11. I'm not buying that one, it's covered in hairlines so it must have been cleaned.
  12. It does make me wonder if I shouldn't be taking a hammer / chisel / anvil / grinder to my nice £1s to make some errors. There are some seriously stupid people out there.
  13. I also reported it. Seems that multiple reports is the key.
  14. Go on then, I'll play. You need some low grade examples to add to the mix.
  15. I can't help Brian, but if you post it here you'll almost certainly get your answer.
  16. Population report (59 coins). 28 x type 1 25 x type 2 6 x type 5.
  17. Two pence. Very slightly over that if you melt them down for scrap, as I understand it.
  18. I stumbled across the first series quite by accident, but thought it was a little gem.
  19. And me, for all the good it'll do.
  20. Sorry to hear this. Best wishes pal.
  21. A lesson in grading: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Half-Penny-Collectable-Coins-1806-1899-/232433769174?hash=item361e21dad6:g:72EAAOSwlhpZgqTo http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Half-Penny-Collectable-Coins-1718-1799-/232433716967?hash=item361e210ee7:g:fbMAAOSwaWNZgpom
  22. Derek's a bit more forgiving in his book though:
