  1. Hey there the USA mint has been producing coins along these lines for a while - I am pretty sure the royal mint has copied them. They are suitable as a special high value present or keepsake I don't think is feasable to buy them every year- and if they are popular they will be produced every year.
  2. While the coin "business" is not much different to many others - the main problem is turning stock over fast enough to feed yourself and family and give yourself a reasonable income. Remember coins dont turn over at the rate that meat does in a butchers shop , they are dead money for the entire length of time they are in a dealers tray. This is why your more likely to get offers on a farthing collection of queen victoria and NOT George V (All dealers suffer these coins sticking in their trays)
  3. I have alway thought there were more varieties of this date around . Makes collecting a bit more interesting
  4. Or throw them on the pavement like the rest of the population

  6. Maybe the lighthouse signifies the fact we are an island nation allbeit in a very different form.
  7. There have been rumours about these sorts of things for years the last time it was a 2008 shield 20p with a letter 1 on it - that was never proved . Can anyone not realise that the royal mint now and the royal mint in 1861 are totally different , no a, b, and c mintmarks etc . Mistakes and mintmarks hardly ever exist in the 21st century (ok there have been a couple) You would think this country was going backwards tecnologically if you listened to some people
