  5. May I remind everyone numismatics has been a popular hobby of quite a few men of the cloth and several large collections were made up by men of the clergy , so while the hobby does not have a direct conection to religion , it holds a conection in that quite a few fans have a direct conection to religion itself
  6. seems I was right - checked up on wikopedia Jesus walking on water is one of the miracles of Jesus recounted in the New Testament. There are accounts of this event in three of the Gospels. This story, following the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand, tells how Jesus sent the disciples by ship back to the "other side" of the Sea of Galilee (the eastern side) while he remained behind, alone, to pray. Night fell and the sea arose as the ship became caught in a wind storm. After rowing against the wind for most of the night, the disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea. They were frightened, thinking they were seeing a spirit, but when Jesus told them not to be afraid, they were reassured. After Jesus entered the ship, the wind ceased, and they arrived at land. According to the version in the Gospel of Matthew, Peter walked on the water towards Jesus, but he became afraid and began to sink, so Jesus rescued him.[1]

  17. Of course if the world goes on as things have gone on over the last 500 years there will be an infinate ammount of art produced so its a fact the human race will have more and more art as painters etc and born live and die , in fact everyone will drown in works of art while coins just become rarer and rarer year on year . "Funny old world ain't it" (these are the last words of a guy in north wales as he bought a packet of paracetamol and a pint of whiskey and went on to commit suicide.

  22. Coins at this time were not really collected as momentos , this really took off in victorian times and after (thats why 1901 and 1902 coins are so common) A shilling would have been worth a couple of days pay at the time so only the rich would have kept one as a keepsake, remember the georges (germans)were never really that popular with the public till george the third at least . It might have been hoarded more for its intrinsic silver value there was a lot of this esp about 1790-1815 when the recoinage produced lighter coins
