  1. I it london mint office rubbish again? They keep on changing their name in there new ads ( but same old overpriced rubbish for sale) now because of the low reputation they have.
  2. The reason is that simply few people kept these coins as investments/keepsakes/collectors items one of the reasons being that a florin or a halfcrown was probably an half an hours wage for most people . Coins were only seriously hoarded from 1961 onwards as people got richer and had more money to spend on hobbies anyway. A raft of books on coins also helped including the check your change series and cw pecks bmc on coper tin and bronze coins which had few fans before his book was published.
  3. Worth all of a quid to even a schoolboy , mostly the packing though , obviously
  4. I had a blackberry crumble the other day apples pinched from a trust property and blackberries found free in a hedge why does food taste better when its free?
  5. Yep the shops are full of total rubbish - mostly from china at extortionate prices. Some strange people must buy it though or else it would never be for sale there . where there's a hole someone will want to fill it. the food is about 3x the price in supermarkets as well, it don't taste any better just cause it's local
  6. It is on common land yes so is free to enter but the national trust run the two ajoining museums and charge £4 for each one so unless you want to remain in the dark about the circles history you really need to visit at least one. Corfe castle is in a very pretty area i agree the village is superb, the national trust have also run a couple of nearby beaches across from millionaires row "sandbanks " they charge a hefty fee for parking there as well.
  7. Stonehenge is national heritage yes but it works in partnership with the national trust as they own surrounding land so you get in free , Corfe and Avebury manor are both NT
  8. just been on a short trip (well long one actually visited Avebury stonehenge and corfe castle all were excellect so the national trust is not just about stately homes (though it mostly is LOL )
  9. Apparently the national trust now has over six million members up from two million in the year 2000, I gave in a joined early on this year and have been having a free day out nearly every weekend and have enjoyed every minute of it . Running out of places nearby to go too though now, LOL One of my faves is the little known biddulph Grange gardens Partner is looking a bit fed up when i mention another stately house miles away though.
  10. tut tut - not found inocent or guilty yet
  11. yuck , yuck , yuck. worth £25
  12. It is always a big change in someones life when their monthlies stop, esp women, hot flushes etc. etc. etc.
  13. I love the way he thinks he can default on the scotch part of the national debt then think that the new country will be regarded as a good credit risk by the international credit sharks out there. Salmon for tea ,more like sardines
  14. Please apply- Van gaal Co/Old trafford football stadium Old trafford. P.s Each player must not demand more than what the prime minister earns in a year as their weekly wage
  15. or shilling
  16. M.P. feel the love people , feel the love
  17. Some pobjoy stuff is ok , it's just the run of the mill stuff (esp comemeratives) is dreadful
  18. MMMMMM very nice - shame about the light strike though , and do i detect a bit of wear on the curls between the ear and the nose . A far from perfect coin , rev is far better
  19. Not a martin platt coin by any chance is it?
  20. There tend to be a lot of penny collectors so the market sez it all really , I would have a guess at there being around 50 copper pennies and less than 10 copper farthings and halfpennies. it is true that you often see them for sale - remember the same coin is sometimes put for sale with two or more dealers - increases the chance of a sale
  21. i would go with that - impaired proof almost certainly
  22. All look like ideal items for the melting pot , sorry
  23. And the new variety is called "mule but not a mule" and is 2000% more expensive than an ord toothed border coin and used by slabbing firms to extract money from their customers, thus being very useful- too themselves
  24. attractive good fine reverse is pushing near very fine, reverse wear on obverse lets it down badly. nice beginners coin though and i have seen many many in worse grade
  25. Back to the original subject anyone see the EF grade mule (slabbed) finish on ebay at nearly £200 . Someone was really stiitched up as it clearly was not a mule even a child could see that. One born every minute
