    Blimey, these 1599 Anchor Sixpences go well, I watched one go through last week! Of course they're rare, and you don't see them on eBay very often, but I just couldn't part with that much money for a coin that looks like either of these, EVEN with an I Brown provenance (I would like at least ONE of his 'decent' coins, though!).     Have you not seen my impressive collection of Una & Lion £5s? They're here, clearly displayed: Nice cabinet, that! I would never be able to leave the house again, though, if I had that in the corner of the lounge!

    Never too much for me! (Squiggly-eyed emoticon) Is that eBay item at £180 a Victorian reminiscence of the Tudor days? Not that I'm aware of. Here's a Baldwin's list you might appreciate (.pdf). Wow, I would buy ALL of those if I had the money, amazing! Any idea why so many were struck in the Netherlands?Edit; got this one answered now!

    Hi copper123, In my deepest Jetton ignorance, this was part of my question...is the eBay link a Victorian creation of another golden age?Part of what mesmerises me about the piece is the quality of the copper! If it's Victorian, I'm slightly undone, as much as I admire its quality!

    I wondered the same thing for a few seconds! It is a little more unusual, but Peckris is 100% correct and, given the sheer volume of these tokens, I wouldn't say they are collected enough that a slightly rarer variant would be financially appreciated!Edit: seuk could be interested? If he doesn't see this, it could be worth Private Messaging him for his input...he would provide you with a definitive answer for sure!

    It's highly likely it's quite common, blueleaf, but, sad as it sounds, looking at new material (pieces) is just about what we live for on here!Great that you've brought it here...bigger pictures would also be great! There's a 'sticky' post in the beginners section that may help with posting better pictures! You may have a really rare variety, you'll never know until you share the 'full picture' with us?

    OK, so here's 331008165847 why I ask, I think this looks amazing! Would this have been produced during the Elizabethan period, or is it just musing over the good times at a later date?

    Is there a spink-style catalogue or web resource for jettons? Also, why would people of the period buy a sizeable copper token, just to use as, well, a token? Why not just use the money itself? Unless of course they used a 30mm copper Jetton as a shilling, perhaps?

    Maybe Baldwin's have consented to it? The thing I don't get, however, is how Fraser hopes to sell the coin at all! I mean you'd hardly be shelling out 10's of thousands without at least a little research? Even a basic search would find out the Baldwin version, given the descriptors are identical! Looking at the number of adverts and borrowed news items, I'd say he's more interested in site traffic for his dosh, rather than the physical hard sales of 'antiques'!
