  1. Hi Rob, welcome to the forum. The coin you have is i think a copper 2pence, the grade looks to be a VF (very fine) or maybe a little better, but i'm not sure from the pictures, is there green spots on it as this could be Virdignis or copper disease. The rim is a little worse for wear around the coin, also bear in mind you're asking a dealer how much it's worth to him, but 50p sounds harsh to me.
  2. link that works Honduras 4 real The seller describes this disc as XF-AU http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260303052104&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D260303052104%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  3. Based on those recommendations, looks like we'll have to buy Gouby as well. No doubt about it. It appears that both books have their respective strengths. I have the Freemans but will get the updated version of Goubys that way i should be good to go for the Pennies
  4. Looks like i'm going to have to invest in his book then
  5. Geez a shopping cart is a tad helpful when selling anything usually. Do you have to phone or email for anything you want to buy? I get free calls to Europe so its no big deal, but surely as a dealer and book writer, you should be able to click a button and order what you like. Its the 21st Century, the digital age etc etc etc
  6. The link only takes you to a page where he describes the book. I've looked and looked and can't find an actual link to actually buy it. Anyone else?
  7. MIght have a wee stab on that, he's a fellow Scotsman :-)
  8. As you've seen am on my way into the penny collecting, i've started an Excel sheet with grades, price paid and spink numbers and so on, so my next column i would like Freeman numbers. If i take some more pictures of my coins and list them here, could you gents be good enough to help me with the Freeman numbers? I'll start next week and list maybe 5 at a time as they are in the bank vault and have no time to go and pull them all out the now. Thanks Dave (azda)
  9. You, sir, are a wanker. Lol, i near spat my coffee oot when i read Pecks reply
  10. Good photos mate. When my head is inclined in that direction, I will sit down and work out for myself why it's an F10. In the meantime, if it isn't a favour too far and your camera is up to it, can you zoom in as far as you can get without losing focus on the left shoulder of her dress ? (basically until L.C.Wyon comes into view) Ta. Sorry 400, losing focus when zooming in unfortunately.
  11. Azda that's a cheeky wee question to be asking!! I offer 10% to my best customers on everything except bullion items. I can extend this courtesy to forum members on nearly every item on my site (some margins are very tight as I get burned on some purchases just like everyone else ) If you are interested in anything get in touch by email and I will send you a multi-use discount code for use at checkout. Postage is free for all sales over £150. John. If you don't ask John you don't get
  12. I've noticed a little difference in the link you provided John, the pic i have posted of the OBV has what i would say as a 3/4 broach, yours has a full broach, or is it my eyes and its late?
  13. Do our dealer friends amoungst us give reductions to members for coins?
  14. Lol, thanx john, out of curiosity, how much are yours, and what grade would you say this was? 400 i'll see what i can do regarding another picture
  15. It is John, but i wouldn't say unfortunately because as has been noted, not many of these have the LCW because of poor striking, so it's ok for now until i can do some more digging around, unless you have any that is?
  16. Yep, its very faint unfortunately, but there
  17. Thought i'd post this one here incase there is a debate over it and so as not to clog the coin aqusition of the week thread. 2 Pix, hi res, so 2 posts.
  18. Yes sorry Derek, its from a dealers gallery picture and that was its size unfortunately
  19. In nice condition, although is that a spot of verdigris near the I of IND ? Is it lustrous ? Lustre is so difficult to assess from photographs I find. I guess everyone has a different collecting experience, it's just that as I come near to signing of the GV series in AU 85% lustre +, it's interesting to reflect on how easy each coin has been to hunt down compared to the projected rarity figures one encounters in Freeman et al. OK I haven't turned over every stone in the world looking and I've also been collecting the EVII and old heads in parallel, so there is absolutely nothing scientific about my observations, but here goes: Leaving varities to one side for now, I expected 1922, 1926 and 1934 to be difficult and so they have proved. 1915 and 1916 were so difficult I compromised on condition, and 1920 and 1928 just haven't seemed to turn up for me, yet. I'm having a struggle not compromising on condition, must stay strong Not quite sure about the verdigris 400 as the coin is in the vaults of the bank. Here is another 1928, hopefully you can see the picture, not BU but a very good looking coin, dealers gallery picture. Could you men check out my last post in coin aquisition of the week and give me your opinions if the coin is the same as i'd bought please, i personally don't think it is
  20. A better picture would greatly help, but the REV of the medal is generally on reverses of George III and Victoria Shillings, probably the standard motto of the time. I'm not saying it's a shiiling etc, just that the motto often appears on those coins. Please try and capture a better picture if you can
  21. Thanks for that. does look like the same coin. Still don't know how i got them though lol
  22. If you supply some pictures of the Pennies it would be better to judge the grades, maybe put 6 side by side and take a picture of the OBV and REV then do another 6 and so on
  23. Lets not forget the 1902 Low tide penny, wasn't mentioned, it is a rarer variety. Also 1918 and 1919 KN, only the dates were mentioned but without the KN
