  1. The 1896 Penny that i showed in the "Coin aquisiton of the week" Scott, you quoted that it was the most common with a wide gap between the 18 and 96, now its something different? So much confusion between collectors equals chaos me thinks
  2. I now check EVERY Penny with my new USB micrsoscope, well, you never know what you may find
  3. If anyone is interested there's an 1861 8 0ver 6 Penny on Ebay Freemans R18 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150483054959&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D150483054959%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  4. Can anyone give me some info on this subject as i don't have any reference material on this. Obviously it's a Charles II Pattern Farthing In Silver. It states P 407 am assuming it's reffering to Peck 407? Whats an average price on this to be buying at? Obviously its a bit specialist
  5. In reality that's ludicrously expensive. I believe Azda posted on here saying how much cheaper it was in Germany. It's not the £30-£50 a year that's the issue, but the £10 every time you want to access it. No doubt he will confirm, but apparently there is no access charge in Germany. No there is NO access charge here Red, i pay a rental charge for the safety deposit box, maybe 20 euros a quarter, but i can go everday as long as the bank is open without extra charge. RIP OFF BRITAIN, another reason i left.
  6. azda

    I found a free one

And the name of this is?
  7. Ouch, that looks sore. Did'nt you see a picture when you bought this? Personally i would'nt have bought it with such heavy Verd being honest
  8. It looks like a normal I to me, just the bottom of the I is a little worn to the left making it look like an inverted 1
  9. I'd suggest that the coin is in better condition than F, i'd say nearer the VF mark personally
  10. read the last comment http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/article.html?in_article_id=511679&in_page_id=2&expand=true#c529496
  11. Thats just an example of the 1933 400 lol
  12. I posted a message asking her to come onto the forum and let us have a looksy
  13. Did anyone see it before the seller pulled it. Apparently it was in the newspaper. Article here http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1302005/1933-penny-coin-valued-80k-offered-eBay-suddenly-withdrawn.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
  14. I've found a lower-spec version for 80 quid plus VAT: http://www.absolute-data-services.co.uk/dinolite_am211.htm I'm wondering if this might be good enough simply for scanning my collection for insurance record purposes. (and to post pictures here to ask for info! ) Its actually 80 quid Exc VAT, so add whatever the VAT is at these days.
  15. You know, they are selling these, or something similar in my local aldi for 35 euros, connects to the pc. Might go there shortly and take a quick look. Whats the spec?
  16. I am assuming that foil is the similar kind as foil caps that seal milk canisters...it must be backed with some kind of material to create that lasting impression with such sharp detail. I would not recommend anyone trying this with rare coins directly on foil... On the Mohs scale of mineral hardness aluminium is 2.5-3 and copper is 3.0 so there is every chance of scratches being sustained! However here is my attempt, and I think it summarises my thoughts on the idea too! As your all friends I am happy to do a discount... Foil 1944 impression halfpenny RARE £125.00 Blu-tac 1944 brockage halfpenny RARE £62.50 Genuine Rare halfpenny RARE £0.05 Or I am happy to do a deal on all three for £150.00 Free postage, and I don’t charge for using paypal either :-) Hmmm... you haven't mentioned plasticine. I think I see a gap in the market. Nor paper mache. i see another gap and could sell you the patent for 1.25 million, paypal of course, only to those with a registered address though
  17. Definately, and a tin foiled 1933 also does'nt interest me :-)
  18. So i would like to offer members a wee service, at your own cost that is. I'm not making any money, nor do i want to. You'll pay for all costs. I just thought i'd offer anyone who's interested in sampling some of the Oktoberfest beer and who's never had the chance to come and try it for themselves a little chance to try the real ale. Normally Oktoberfest beers alcohol content is on average 5-6% alcohol, some are stronger, i'll get you various types. Before and during the Oktoberfest, the drink markets here offer the 1/2 litre bottles of beer, which is quite higher alcohol content than the normal beers they sell. I'd be willing to purchase the beers for you and send them over, you'll obviously have to pay for the beer, packaging and postage, i won't make anything at all from any of you. 9 beers is very cheap, the postage isn't. I sent 9 beers to my brother in Scotland and it cost 22 euros just for postage, each beer costs on average 1 euro. Yes it may sound expensive for a few beers, but it's extremely good, and if you've never tried it, it is worth the effort. As i said, i'm not asking for anything from it, only that you pay all the costs involved, which means buying the beer, postage and packaging. You can pay by Paypal or International bank transfer.
  19. An interesting coin is an interesting coin Tom, what about a 1926 Mod Effigy, or many many others that have been in circulation, 1909 with dot, 1918, 1919 KH, all rare, and so many others to speak off, you can't have your cake and eat it. They are all interesting to each individual
  20. So what is that then Az? A repro? Where's the pic from - did you say the seller of the foils sold it on ebay earlier - in which case it's conclusive. Even if not, Britannia's face and hand don't look right. It surely isn't an original 1933 coin? (Or am I losing my touch?) No Tom, i never mentioned ANYWHERE that the seller of the foil sold a 1933 penny on ebay, i doubt anyone would be that stupid. What i said was that this was the impression from that coin from 1933. He tells me that an aquaintance of his did these impressions for a few friends, something that the bronze and copper collector at the beginning of the thread has already stated. Maybe look at some of the images thats been uploaded, as someone pointed out, there is actually 2 different dies, so perhaps it is just ure eyes. Actually it must be your eyes Tom if thats how you read the posts lol
  21. I see the cynics amoungst us, so look at the OBV of the foil and the coin to the left of the nose, you can see the imprint of 2 hairs from the coin itself. I'm not on commission here, but they both look the same to me, and i'm not a huge fan of the seller either.
  22. The 1st 1933 picture i posted is from the seller of the foil impression. The impression is from that coin, you can see on the OBV of both the foil impression and the actual coin the 2 hair marks, so anyone going to have a pop at this? Is that provenance enough?
  23. This one is from a certain coin house in Manchester that they sold, hope they don't mind either. Don't know how much they sold it for, but it was listed like so Pattern by Andre Laurillier. Freeman 786. R19. BMC 2284. As struck with underlying lustre. 1 of only 4 in existence. The most important and renowned date of penny !!
