  1. Your pictures are far to small to see anything on them
  2. David, can you tell me how you stitch the pictures together?
  3. Well we're ok there then, the 2 i'm looking at occur much later, so 1 down :-)
  4. Obviously the site has been busted again
  5. Really, i wish Chris would moderate the site a little better. I know he has other things to do, but if he has little time for the site i wish he'd let someone moderate it better
  6. Yup double ditto, perhaps its been busted again, although i can see other images
  7. Although looking back,it does say bidding starts on the 15th September, so i assume that our bids are of no use?
  8. Some excellent coins in there. Wish my father did the same for me way back then, my son will hopefully appreciate the ones i buy for him 1 day. Never see any like that on ebay, he does say his father bought from there also.
  9. Personally i would'nt go by Spink for Gold, you can track daily Gold prices. There is also another problem, that not all Sovs are the same, you have your rarities and you have your common ones, so it would depend on what exactly you were looking at. If you look at some William IIII Sovs, they command some hefty prices, yet has the same weight as a Viccie Sov
  10. Any recomendations? Also where i might purchase online?
  11. Here's one that 400 posted, a site for detector finds, if that's your interest, or perhaps you found something. http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/index.php?cat=1
  12. To be honest its been a dream of mine to find a huge chest stuffed full of coins, we can all dream i suppose. I have thought about detecting here, going out at 2am as i don't want to get busted by the Stasi, i still might do it because as i said, there's a lot of farmland around me, but with my luck i will dig up a UXB, but you never know whats around here. I have no experience with detectors, i know there's several types, so whats a good one for ploughed fields etc?
  13. David, there are custom boxes on ebay, bought one myself last week
  14. Yes it was Scott, but if you read it, it said they were about to throw an old chest out, so they decided to get a locksmith to open it up first and inside it contained all the coins
  15. A link to various European Grades as well as the American and the English equivilent http://www.acadiacoins.com/educate.htm
  16. Did anyone notice my Maundy set in coin aquisition of the week?
  17. Are you telling me you don't have a metal detector ? No Verniers, no detector - call yourself an obssesive coinhead ? The reason i don't have a detector 400 is that the Germans can have me put in jail for digging up their land, it's not like the UK where you can ask the farmer, here is a totally different kettle of fish. Whats annoying is that i live around a lot of farmland and i bet there's a lot of unfound objects under that sheeeeeeet
  18. Okay but is the design of one side incuse? Like these: http://www.coinsgb.com/Error_Coins/Brockage.html or are both the bust's raised? My guess is it is two heads sides of coins joined together. Often called a magicians coins. Check the edge for a joining line using a magnifying glass. Seen a penny with the same thing on ebay, the guy wants a grand for it lol
  19. http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/sheffield/hi/people_and_places/history/newsid_8931000/8931437.stm Is'nt it just sods law, someone with no interest in coins find a stash. I have no interest in gold, will i find a huge mine, noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  20. Well it sold for £531.00
  21. Yes. You have until a certain date to register your interest in a lot and then after the closing date, it's between you and whoever else has entered the minimum starting bid. You then keep going backwards and forwards until everyone else gives up and you are the last man standing. Can go on for a week or more. Oh right, thanks for that. Presumably the winner is the one whose bid still stands after say, 24 hours, with no further rival bids ? ~ and that everybody is still in the race until that point. From memory, last time I got an email every time I was outbid asking me if I wanted to continue. I think there must be a time limit if they don't hear from you, can't remember what it is though. I think it's called "taking the piss" I'll save my money for auctions where I know when it ends and where my first bid is my only bid (whether highest lowest or derisory compared to others). Some nice looking stuff so good luck to those of you who put yourselves forward for the hassle! Where's the coins? I see the announcement but can't see a link to view the coins
  22. Invest in a USB microscope, that will definately help
  23. And your reply to this Scott in coin aquisition of the week was "the close 96 is the most common, but still a nice 1896" yet now in CCGB its something else? So a new opinion now because of CCGB?
