  1. If you look through the posts regarding CGS and what they have and have not slabbed and reasons for not slabbing, it would be an absolute waste of anyones time and money sending a hammered coin to CGS for slabbing.Regarding the penny in this post, I find it down right ridiculous that they can slab a coin with all its problems a few years ago and yet seem so f**king elitest these days, you'd think they don't need the business, moving the goalposts just pisses on their own chips in My eyes
  2. The bigger businesses would use interlinkexpress. I use them through another company when in Scotland, i can send up to 30 kilos within the EU for £22 (was £15) and my last box arrived in 2 days. I don't think individuals can just wander into a depot and post though but definately worth checking out amd see what is required, maybe there's something in it for you as an agent for them?
  3. I thought there was some EU-USA partnership in the pipeline? Not sure how it works with import taxes though
  4. So what are the alternatives?
  5. £11 to £84, so what extra service are they giving you for the £73 increase? Have you checked other courier services for prices? RM seem as though tgey want to lose customers
  6. So you can't add extra insurance? So what about Hermes or other carriers? Or if he was a part of the ebay global shipping?
  7. Its from the UK to Germany. You can buy extra insurance feom the PO, normally a tenner is up to £500 and an extra couple of quid for an extra Couple of hundred insurance.
  8. £60 overseas postage and when i asked if this was an error his reply is in the 2nd image
  9. You have a choice of TPGs
  10. You paid import duty on a book?
  11. To slab or not to slab?
  12. Some more pictures circulating of this hoard

  15. Well you boys know better.
  16. I'm not so sure though Rob, even IF they were never to see the light of day surely the mere fact that collectors know another 5200 of these have been found would'nt it be enough for people to start panicking that they now have a common coin?
  17. No doubt prices should drop for this type coinage, let's see what happens this year, I think dealers will now be tearing their hair out of those who have a few of these sitting in stock. I did want an example or 2 of CNUT & AETHELRED but I think eventually they'll be picked up for far cheaper in auctions in the coming 12 months or so when the hoard gains momentum in the press
  18. A Saxon hoard of this size i think will be throughly gone through as they don't know enough about the Saxon era and it is being talked about in the same breath as the gold hoard from a few years back. The problem is, what do they do with IT afterwards, do they shell out a million just to keep it locked away or for study and conservation to determine any new moneyers und etc. If these are commoner types i would think they'd rid themselves of the bulk and keep anything they think is of national importance, with new moneyers comes another piece of the saxon jigsaw piecing together that part of history. Time will tell, but how long it takes is another matter and of course the usual derisory offer from the BM will of course be tabled to the finder
  19. It makes you wonder if this was from a mint operating nearby
  20. The Frau used To work in Todmorden
  21. Neither is the obverse. Over-doing it on the light washes out the surfaces. Also conveniently hiding any surface marks. These are going for what, £200 to £300 in auction in the higher grades. Apparently not Halfcrown 1816 Bull Head ESC 613 UNC with green and gold toning, formerly in an NGC holder and graded MS64 by them More coins like this £520 He's a dickhead. So he knows it's a replica but is still asking £600. I guess that's the point of having reams of white space to cover his arse if someone complains that it wasn't as described.
  22. Yes and 1 numpty saying he hopes the coins don't get sold privately. Seems they are as struck by all accounts
  23. Worth a read on this saxon hoard http://m.buckinghamtoday.co.uk/news/more-news/silver-coins-worth-1m-found-on-farm-1-6497630
  24. Happy new year from the Munich branch
