    Spink

For those with ipads and iphones, Spink has an app for viewing catalogues at your lesuire for upcoming sales. Thought it might be useful for some. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/spink-auctioneers/id441915393?mt=8
  4. My advice would be for you to get more involved and learn more about the hobby as i'm assuming the cash will be taken from your wallet and not the kids
  5. Photoscape is free and has a circular crop tool In one fell swoop David took out Nick, the old Eagle soars high above his prey Christ, i'm beginning to sound like Peter and his Cubans and wine (hic)
  6. Personally i use Da Vinci, an old mate, did a few bits and pieces here and there, and the boy could draw a complete 360 degree circle freehand apparently.........
  7. The Tide ishould be level with Britannias Hermeline, it was bidded on accordingly though, maybe a Little to high because someone who obviously does'nt know what a 2mm actually looks like, or the seller
  8. There's a nice genuine 2mm here for comparison Thanks for highlighting my 2mm David
  9. I don't think they did Peter as it's not a 2mm
  10. Some of his UNCs are worse

  13. Geez did you buy this from surrey*coins, or are you said eBay member surrey*coins?
  14. Either wear or a partially filled die. For some years (1920 for example) these are quite common and not generally considered collectible. I will agree with Rob and Accumulator. An extra comment: I will not pay a premium for an error that can be easily reproduced in my garage! A file, some sand paper and voila, colon disappeared. Thanks! I,m not sure about the garage comment rob!Low tide anyone? High tide, plus i can see the other colon
  15. I've noticed this myself Nick. My normal pictures are bigger than ebay enlarged ones which to me is quite strange.......I've enlarged my own pictures on ebay only to find they are smaller than the ones i've uploaded or are on the main auction picture. I completely sympathise with eBay because their storage requirements must be gargantuan, but for me - if the button doesn't result in an enlarged image then don't call it 'enlarge'. Here, here! A huge bugbear for me too! Does anyone know how to get the eBay 'enlarge' feature to work? I imagine it's an extra cost somewhere ... Its an extra cost aye........

  18. Same guy with the original post and the fake coin. He basically buys the Coins mostly from the UK for buttons, gets them slabbed and adds a few hundred £s, slabs must be expensive these days. What i still don't understand is that he's in Patis so is PCGS now, so why ship to NGC?
  19. Apparently a toned EF 120997312075 Mr Platt now using his wifes eBay to talk shite, toned yes, EF errrrrr no Insert url please......
  20. Wow, 95 downloads of the initial picture. Generated some interest then? lol So for my next trick, i've just spotted a Marsh 46A..............For those unfamiliar with Marsh then it's Spink 3852F.............Wallets out for the Sovereign boys............€6000 estimate which is'nt too bad

    taking photos

You should try various ways and setting pies, as Peck said, i do all my pictures outside, i have a balcony here in Munich so it's not generally a problem if it rains either. Just try different ways and see what suits you and the camera best, i also use the highest resolution settings plus macro mode, it all works for me and get great results with a 5 year old Olympus 8mmp camera. P.s, the bigger the coin, the nearer to it you can take a picture, smaller coins need a bit of distance inbetween, i have'nt quite mastered copper bronze yet but am working on that, and lastly, always make sure there's a bit of land between the coin so you can crop and rotate if required
  22. I'm inclined to agree with pies here, in the centre of the 5 between the middle point of the 5 and end of the 5 there is a distinct join between those to points, and inside the 5, in the centre again on the right there is a protrusion. Only problem with that theory is that if it were a 6 it does'nt join all the way round Anyone else see this?
