  1. I doubt it was a collector, no collector in their right mind would abuse a rarity like that.
  2. The reason the pictures are Photographed so far away is the Grades are not what they say, usually a 1/2-1 Grade more than a coin is. I bought once and never again, grading was poor in my opinion......that's only my opinion, others may have had a better experience, unfortunately not me.
  3. For what the coin is worth i'd personally keep it, it's a decent looking coin and might get you interested in collecting if you keep looking at it
  4. Well if they don't take it back Rob i'll have to take the hit unfortunately...........Will wait on their reply first and see what they say about it.
  5. It was a German one Peter, one which i'd bought from before without any problems and described pretty well, so was fairly dissapointed when this turned up. I've emailed them last night with my plate size pictures and see what they say. If they don't take it back it will have to go on the bay in an auction and let it go for whatever it goes for.
  6. It is a pity Peck, but i knew as soon as i took My own pictures that it was buggered. I'll be emailing the auction house tonight after work and send them my pictures and see what they say.
  7. The tooling marks were'nt evident in the auction Gallery picture Rob. You can see the auction Gallery picture in coin aquisition of the week, a few pages back. You commented on it saying it may have been mounted with the few knocks around certain positions od the rim.
  8. Ausländische Münzen EUROPA ENGLAND - Königreich George II., 1727-1760. 1/2 Crown 1746, VICESIMO. S. 3696 RR ! Rdf., Felder poliert, ss Exact description
  9. There was no mention tooling in the Description, i did'nt like it as soon as i saw it in hamd and will email the auction house about it and hopefully Return it as not described.
  10. I'm not liking the right hand side of this OBV..........Comments welcome...........No mount marks and weighs 15.2g
  11. At the risk of a few Boooos from the gallery: I am actually in favour of slabbing. It has its faults, but I think is an improvement, or at least a move in the right direction, on the state of buying/ selling and collecting pre-slabbing, and which we still see in the unslabbed market on the likes of Ebay where, as numerous posts have observed, grades are routinely overstated. I'm also in favour of melting down a lot of the dross which we see again and again. Problem being with the Americans and slabbing is that they're buying the slabs at vastly hyper inflated prices because of what the slab says. Thank god i'm not a slab buyer
  12. I take it Peterkin you're not in favour of slabbing. Welcome to the majority of this forum. At least 90% on this Forum don't like them either, myself included
  13. Thanks Huss. A list of those codes would be useful

  18. Mary groat went for £950 i think? Was wanting a punt on the Charles II shilling, £200-£300 est, it opened at £700, My jaw dropped The Mary coin Must have been a sixpence at that price
  19. How many lots did you Win Stuart?
  20. Can't remember to be honest Stuart if it was in the invoice or not
  21. You can also phone about 3-4 days later to make payment over the phone. Don't forget they had 2 days of sales, so a lot to go through. Got another couple of bits today, so a decent week in auctions this week for me.
