  1. Free Download - Euro Catalogue (Feb 2015) 566 pages (in Spanish but lots of useful info) http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/upload/Eurocirculante%20FEB14.pdf
  2. Why would anyone slab this????? a £5 coin at most
  3. A good summary of post decimalisation Sterling Area coins & banknotes here
  4. The Leek, thistle & shamrock look naturalistic, so why a heraldic rose? looks odd to me
  5. Happy Birthday! Soon you'll wonder how you had time to go to work
  6. A bit of skillful alteration here? from the waves I would think one of the earlier years of QEII pennies
  7. That looks like a design drawing rather than the coin, which hopefully may be better
  8. a nice find! see article here
  9. Another single year type bronze "penny" USSR 5 Kopeck 1924
  10. Off hand, without books Jersey Guernsey Isle of Man Gibraltar Falklands Ascension & St.Helena Try searching on eBay, there are some dealers that specialise in them
  11. 4! The squiggles between the front legs are an eagle if you look closely
  12. A scarce little medieval copper came in today's post Ferdinand I of Aragon as King of Naples, Bronze cavallo, 1472 - 1488 obverse FERRANDVS REX radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust rightreverse EQVITAS RE G NI, horse prancing right, rosette above, T flanked by a rossete on each side in exergue; eagle mintmark for Aquila
  13. This has a suggestion of a doubled 4 and a broken 7, sadly horrid grade
  14. Happy Birthdays each!
  15. I also like these beautiful in high grade, sadly awful when circulated, the relief was far too low
  16. One of my favourite designs, must look out for a better grade one Italy 10 centesimi (1919-1938), the use of the bee on the flower is a good use of the space, and it was one of the first regular coin issues not to use national symbols or mythological characters
  17. My grandchildren will have to sort my collection out one day! Hopefully mine is reasonably documented
  18. I've finally got round to transfering hundreds of coins that were in 2x2 envelopes to mylar coin holders, mainly so my grandchildren can actually see and handle them without damage. I bought a trial pack of Hartberger pages (24.5 x 28.5 cm) from our host which seem ideal, and I'm now looking at binders & slip cases, what do folks here use recommend? David
  19. Happy Birthdays!
  20. That would be great! And please PM me your name for the acknowledgements I hadn't realised how difficult it is to image these tiny shiny coins, I collect mostly 30mm copper. Every little speck of dust turns into a boulder the original scans for this image are all at 1200 dpi, what resolution would you like? David
  21. Yes, we learned base 12 and base 20 for Lsd, base 16, 14 & 20 for weights, etc though they were never called that, I had never heard of binary or hexadecimal till many years later How many folk here remember exercise books with all the Imperial measurements on the back cover? there's one illustrated here David (in old fogey mode)
  22. The 1882 Jamaica penny is the same, the catalogues list a no H variety, but I've never seen a convincing one, given the total mintage recorded was just 48,000, I doubt the RM would bother, unless they were testing their newly installed equipment on cupronickel as well as bronze blanks. a clogged die is the most likely explanation. David
  23. I have 2004, complete set given to my mum by HRH at Liverpool Cathedral, if you need them
  24. I spent the morning watching coverage of the ceremony to honour the three French police officers, killed in the awful events last week Then the postman brought this, I assume a discount token for 10 centimes, early 20th C, brass 30mm Paris in happier times David Edit: Kermesse is the Paris Fun Fare, so probably a slot machine token
  25. Eyeline different but R touches E of REG - Obverse B ?? EDIT changed my thoughts, it's essential to compare coins of similar grade, such as my F6 on the left below looks the same to me
