  1. There was that brief interregnum betwixt the reigns of GV and GVI, aka Walli's husband. Canna say they really reigned. Wasn't even coronated, in fact GVI was coronated when EVIII was supposed to have been. Hmm, if you only count a reign from the coronation, then Her Maj's Diamond Jubbly is not until NEXT year!
  2. I wish the same was with pennys, i have a spac inbetween 1932 and 1934 that needs filling There might be one under the foundation stone of a church in Vauxhall if you've got a chisel - Really and truly just joking! Or if you have a tiny chisel, a lathe, a magnifying glass, and a 1935 penny...
  3. Bust 6 by any chance? That would be James I of England and Bust 6 of Scotland?
  4. Surely will be good for the Tabloids. But then again, George VII might could get upset and shutter them. Wow. A Battle Royal between George VII and Rupert Murdoch. Now that I'd pay good money to see!
  5. I recommend Steve Thompson
  6. And thanks to Will Shakespeare! Quite! Not to mention all those Court painters who were given a full time job adding hunchbacks and withered arms to perfectly normal portraits...
  7. How weird. I tried to Reply, got an error message saying I could only post a certain number of times, hit Go Back, and found two of my post! Weirder still and weirder - now there's only one of it!!
  8. Possibly Richard III - the most misunderstood monarch we ever had, and whose reputation was sealed forever by those Tacky Tudors whose own legitimacy was extremely slender bordering on non-existent!!

  10. "The" Ukraine is an insurrectionary comment in Ukraine - only pro-Russian uses the article "the". I remember a few years ago, my mother in law got chewed out for saying that. It is okay to speak Russian, we all do in UA, but never say it like "the" Ukraine. At least I have the highest respects for Her Majesty, just not her firstborn. I will stay out like the plaque whence Charles becomes monarch. If he were a long reign, I foresee the final dismantling of a long and formidable monarchy. Hardly likely, given his current age! The words "Edward" and "VII" come to mind for some reason. Mind you, I don't share your antipathy - much as I admire Her Maj, a Goons-loving, environmentally-caring, plant-talking, Camilla-marrying gonk might be quite fun for a year or two
  11. Only one - send it to ME!
  12. They all sound the same ..or thereaboot
  13. Nooooooooooo Wedding anniversary today, so a couple O jars, an' an injun! Have a good evening chaps! (an' gal) You seem to have her well trained. Or at least, she lets you think so...
  14. Get your own back - congratulate any Americans you meet on the number of medals being won by California
  15. Was the virgin Mary weeping? Glad I wasn't Joseph...a very understanding man On Jeremy Kyle tomorrow? "We've done a DNA test... Joseph... (audience, please - let me say this, it's very very difficult). Joseph... I'm so sorry..." Did Joseph have black teeth, tattoo's,drink, drug problems,on benefits and lived for texting? Nah - that was the real father :D (waits for thunderclap...)
  16. I would prefer to sell them in as larger lot as possible as I don't really have the time with eBay and it's associated activities. Open to offers for any of the items (not sure if that's broken any guidelines. Please remove if it does, and sorry), as they will probably be put back and left to collect dust. Does anybody know about School Medals, such as Blundells School Keats Medal and the Poland Street Academy? Thank you all again There is an 'Items for Sale' forum - I'm sure you would be welcome to post them there. I was sure someone would help in the discipline department, many thanks and I shall. No, you must be thinking of Miss W. H. I. P. Lash, who has an address in Soho (or so I'm told )
  17. Yeah, eBay grades should be taken with a large mountain of salt. We've seen coins that aren't even Fine described as "high grade", Fine coins described as EF, etc. The best thing is to look closely at enlarged pictures and decide for yourself , and never ever buy a coin where the picture is poor (unless you're taking a cheap punt hoping for a bargain, but even then it should only be done with experience).

  19. Spink 2009 rated this at £100. In 2005 it was only £50. My example bought in '99, cost me £30 and I thought that was good value. These are not common in BU, nor the 1934, nor the 1930. £150 seems steep, but hardly 400% steep! I realise this doesn't mean much, but a 1970 guide rated it at £50, well over the average weekly wage of the day.
  20. Good job you're in the Ukraine, or you could find yourself in the Tower for an insurrectionary remark like that!
  21. Nice idea Patrick You want to watch your autofocus - are you getting a bit too near the coins? Better to shoot no closer than the minimum focus distance, use maximum resolution, then crop the image.
  22. I agree with Peter and pies (hey, that has quite a poetry to it!) - GEF minimum, possibly AUnc. Yes, a lovely coin.
  23. Indeed - an uncirculated coin need not be perfect. But it MUST NOT show any signs of wear (rubbing, slight flattening, or worse). Modern uncirculated coins can show what are generally referred to as 'bag marks', which your two coins in their leather pouch MAY have, from rubbing together (pictures would be good if you can get them). Bag marks can be minor abrasions, scuffing, very light small scratches. Chips on the edge should not be present. But as I say, we would need to see some pictures to be sure. By the way, what are the dates of your coins?

  25. I'd go the opposite way round Peter, Poor/NF I think Peter has graded according to how the images are displayed in eBay - reverse first. I agree about the grades, but I would add that it is only the portrait that is Poor, the legend is also NF. How that would affect the overall grade, I haven't the faintest idea. Perhaps "NF, portrait Poor"?
