No...we have them de-clawed and shave their tongues at birth. My cheeks are also very tough after living with Mistress...I mean Mrs Peter for a long time A fatal flaw in your cunning plan is the failure to have their teeth pulled. If they decide to have a nibble whilst licking you may find yourself feeling rather deflated (you know how puppies love to chew on balls)....... I like to hold a pair of puppies whilst my balls are chewed.... Make sure you're not reading anything provocative while sat there - you know what dogs like to do with sticks I think puppies would have little use for a toothpick though Peck :D

Heritage Auctions

I have had several good buys from them over the years. I have also found (like Rob) that they tend to miss major rarities and just give a general Spink number -

Are their tongues not a bit too rough on your cheeks Peter?

Wow... just... wow. I have no words for that listing. It's been taken down, it seems. I sent the seller an email letting them know that brass is golden not gold.

Wow - thank you Hus! I never usually win anything, so very much appreciated! :D After years of entering raffles without a sniff of success (I even failed at an event where there were 15 people there and 9 raffle prizes), my first ever win was ... wait for it ... a knitted toilet roll holder But well done! I bet they're a bit scratchy Peck, knitted toilet rolls?

Lost My Coin Colletion
argentumandcoins replied to Hello17's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hello again Patrick. Looking forward to your school holidays? My 14 year old breaks up next week and will probably spend 5 days a week playing on his infernal xbox Have you decided what you want to collect yet or are you still just buying what you like the look of? The offer still stands from me for some freebies if you want them? I have some good fractional farthings I can send you together with some Victorian sixpences, shilings etc. John. -
Lodge and beat booked for week of 1st October. 7 days and nights without screaming kids (sadly probably without screaming reels as well but worth it for the peace!). Glenlivet is already stockpiled and order for Cuban cigars about to be placed Glenlivet? Ahh, for that smoky aroma of Talisker, my all time favourite autumnal drink! Ouzo for Greece! My cousins favourite, his description "it's like licking an ashtray" Thanks for that, John! Hopefully I'll be able to put that thought out of my head before I next squeeze the cork out! Now now Stuart, what a man does in the confines of his own home should remain private!

You know Dave I did see that one but didn't really look closely and realise they were birds. Thank you for pointing it out! If it was some sort of stamping machine Stuart then that might mean that there are other coins out there with the same stamping, must watch out. I've seen those machines around which stamp, flatten and stretch coins but I've always thought them too expensive to let my boys have a go - maybe I should as they might be the collectables of the future What, one of these? Spoilsport. Your secret is out Rob, a true anorak, a Thomas The Tank Engine spotter!

I think the price of 1997 Britannia sets just went up!
-
They only did these in Gold/Silver and Bronze. 200 Gold, 1500 Silver and 2000 Bronze, then the dies were apparently destroyed under supervision according to the little booklet that came with it Proof, if ever it were needed, that there is a God! £92 it finished ar, so i'm kinda happy with that Happy? You should buy 92 lottery tickets! I'm not trying to have a go at you Dave but it really was a hideous piece of tat. Just goes to show how fickle the ebay buyers can be at times. I see your 1997 Britannia achieved a spectacular result as well? For an uncased coin without a COA from the 4 coin set that was another jaw dropper.

Dear All, If the following offends you I do apologise but following on from a question I received about a Rarity 3 1956 halfpenny I have on ebay these are the last 2 messages. The original question was along the lines of "is your price a typo? (£45 was the BIN price). I responded very politely that it wasn't and that I had sold a rarity 12 1956 (I said R14 in my reply) in nearly VF for £125 several years ago (the buyer is a forum member). Anyway, here goes (BUT PLEASE READ THE BOTTOM MESSAGE FIRST); Dear new_world_numismatics, Mike, you are obviously a high-end dealer in choice coins, probably ex Goldberg, CNG or Heritage? I greatly value your opinion and knowledge of British numismatics but would be obliged if you would refrain from further contact as I do not think my pathetic business is worthy of your attention. Thank you for your choice words of wisdom which I will share with all of the users of the GB coin forums (some of whom are in the States and collect GB bronze by Freeman numbers), in the hope that they too will benefit from your knowledge and experience. I will also email Michael Freeman and tell him how disgusted you are that his work is not of the same standard as Breen et al and I will contact the major UK auction houses and tell them to desist from using his numbers forthwith as the man is obviously an idiot. - john8150_0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: new_world_numismatics To: john8150_0 Subject: Re: Other: new_world_numismatics sent a message about 1956 Halfpenny, F475, Rarity 3, VF. #350471069974 Sent Date: 08-Jul-12 16:18:42 BST Dear john8150_0, Hello again, thanks for getting back to me. I guess my question then is this: if I do go through my buckets and find any such varieties, would you be a buyer? Otherwise it would not be worth my time as no one on this side of the pond collects such "varieties," nor even acknowledges there existence... I am familiar with Freeman's work but have never agreed with him on much. Nor do serious numismatists, as is evident by the fact that he had to self publish for decades because no one would publish his work, and he still is not recognized by numismatics-based publications today. Please consider that on a modern coin with a mintage over 20 million, that there are bound to be numerous die varieties, potentially dozens and dozens, none of which would necessarily be rarer than any other. Even if so, the population of such a "rarity" would still potentially be in the millions for such a "rarity," which would not even make a "R" scale for any other type of coins, ranging from ancients to 2012 dated coins. (also his rarity scale is backwards from established numismatic numeric ranking systems which further compromises his credibility). Honestly, I would never recommend Freeman's work to any serious numismatist for fear of being mocked as an amateur. And anyway, the fact that you've only sold one in (at least) the last 6 years kind of confirms this. Anyway, good luck and I'll let you know if I come up with any "rarities" for you! Regards, Mike P.S. I guess what I'm trying to say is this: you may be more of an "Ebay Imbecile" than you think... Simply reading your listing was somewhat confusing and offensive, as you aggressively attack any of your potential buyers before they even become one, and on top of that, you offer nothing but garbage in your listings, whilst proclaiming on your website that you only deal only in "rarities" and "high grade items." Please stop wasting our time! - new_world_numismatics

I use pen and paper, it even works in a power cut! My accounts are done the same way Peter. If my accountants want £750 a year out of me they can bloody well earn it!!

New Collector, looking for advice
argentumandcoins replied to a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
You have just given yourself the best bit of advice that you could have learnt from us. If you like the coin the chances are that somebody else will if you come to sell on. -
Happy Birthday Geordie. I bet you canna blaw the candles oot in yan gar marra?

You've got a sharp eye for spotting the eBay irregularities! Presumeably he outbid the genuine top bidder, and then cancelled the transaction with himself, all ready to live another day in paradise! The 2 were running side by side, the auction one ended Friday, but it's definately the same coin He did the same trick with an 1887 gold and silver set earlier this year. I knew what he paid for it as he bought it from a customer of mine, who had bought it from me prior to the hike in bullion prices. Needless to say the auction end price showed him a loss after fees so it went back on as a buy it now. Private listings...........shilling sales!

Elizabeth I Groat Fake on Ebay!
argentumandcoins replied to Coinery's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
About 4-5 months' ago! He said he's going to let me know where he got it from, a dealer apparently????? Isn't it a shame you can't follow these things up with the buyers anymore! That's ebay protecting,,,,,, oh, yes, ebay! They make it so hard to track anything that the system is wide open to shill bidding and con merchants, but hey, 15% profits off the top for ebay/paypal, "you know it makes sense Rodders"!!!!! -
Elizabeth I Groat Fake on Ebay!
argentumandcoins replied to Coinery's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I wouldn't hold your breath on a reply Stuart. I contacted the ebay user squirry123 earlier this month to ask if they knew the fistful of coins that they had paid a small fortune for from China were all fakes..............no response! -
I did a similar test when I was undergoing a psyche evaluation in the old days. It looks like sex to me (I bet Peter sees the same).
