  1. the ghosting never went away, i have a nice 1935 with ghosting very evident found a couple more can see the colour differance.
  2. yea i have seen that, got some nice pieces with that metal mix error, not even lustrous sometimes i acctually love the look of that effect though this is my fave one but i have found it on coins later then that 1932 farthing
  3. i love that top 1912 H, strike looks almost perfect
  4. its one i got in my dealers, i acctually got this thing at £5, i'm guessing his book worked on peck and therfore had no small date listed. and in truth, i only got it as a cheap example of a viccy copper series piece (went back there the other day to get a value... he said £7.... might have to show him the book i use lol) but yea i posted about it before, i got a better picture and after reading about them i thought i would find out more about it, and basically what to do with it, (can it be slabbed as a rare piece or what?) well i will be keeping it, as a farthing collector this is a trophy coin.
  5. and yes this is one, was reading colin cookes site and said he had seen around 20 or so. perhaps this was one (i did get it in manchester) http://www.colincooke.com/coinpages/victcopperissue.html <--- the page the information about 1858 is on. i just wish to note another "feature" of 1858 SD farthings, the bead below the the last 8 is smaller and how much is this thing worth? click for bigger picture, some overstrikes of letters
  6. pictures of both types
  7. that 1933 was a gorgeous colour though the problem with getting one of those in GVF... is the weak strike making them LOOK lower i was reading up on one of my coins... the 1858 Small Date farthing some interesting stuff on there
  8. O.O thats a nice looking coin
  9. i found i have a 19908 penny that has gone light brown, similar to the KN penny, although it is approaching fine rather then the usual wear
  10. that was up a few months ago
  11. i have a worn 1893.. it looks like any other 1890's penny in circulation until 1970, except it, is brown and not black, it is very worn, (full legend queen just worn flat i do have a KN 1912 and i did notice a differance now it might be that it is slighlt better grade then your average 1912 but the colour doesnt seem to have darkened as much as usual i have a 1918 KN with normal wear and it is brown (like the 1893) now this is worn as you can see, coins like this have usualy gone black or very dark brown
  12. i only have 3 1992's... 2 of em are small head lol those be my future investments.. hopefully they become like the 1858 small date farthing. i have 2 types of 2005 10p too lol
  13. look like George 2nd... the brown worn one looks like 1732.. i think they are farthings but basing that on a picture to guess the size , so yea a couple of quid each probably 3rd one is george 3rd, no idea what though
  14. my best find.. EF lustrous small head 1992 20p
  15. i have found a few toned circulation coins in old tins.piggy banks. they were about 20 years old US toning
  16. because of pirces with tax etc i guess. egypt does one better... 25 piastre NOTE!!! and there are 32 of those to our pound...
  17. Don't know if this has been looked at yet but it seems the 10p reverse was modified in 2005 however, like the 1992 20p it seems both dye types were used. Basically the alignment of the 1 in 10 to the dot changes from pointing AT the dot to between i have found both types. photos to come.
  18. Napoleon III 1856 would sound about right this coin is french, if you have an old UK coin comapre its size and i can tell you denomination about penny size = 10 centimes halfpenny = 5 farthing = 1 that is if it is copper.
  19. why do the mint want our money... they make the stuff O.O
  20. i only have those plastic coin holders for the decent stuff, i try and keep lustred copper out as i worry about reactions and such. they are ideal for my lower budget until i can get some trays or cabinet. but storing farthings and US cents will be hard as i have a fair few of those as for toning
  21. probably in piggy banks, tins etc I find a fair chunk of 90's stuff in EF, even found a 1983 pound with full lustre a few years ago
  22. yes, and it was enlarged not shrunk, but yea all 92 issues should have large head, dunno why there are small head 20p's
  23. its a minor resize its the same portrait i have both types look at the neck if you cant see much differance
  24. small head and large head they changed the head size in 1992, small head was 85-91 and is scarcer
  25. fairly low mintage yea, and therer were 2 types
