  1. yea but you lose money doing that metal dectecting you can make some money
  2. i saw a 1864 in fine going at £58, it was the serif 4 too... but yea i see those 1 side sellers and get annoyed.. i use both sides to decide.. and its always the wrong side!!!
  3. there was a bulk buy with one in i think, cos that went way up to like £5-6 for some worn 1903's.. tbh pennies are flying up to stupid prices currently. i would have done what you did.. prolly would have rejected it though
  4. gawd thats nice... i really do need to find a book which explains all these types..
  5. whats the dyes... seems hell of a lot of money for something so ugly how rare is R5?
  6. that would, trust me, they always do
  7. those things go for more then £2 more like 15
  8. ahh ok, i have 2 1913 pennies already both 2+A going off colon pointing and date spacing anyway
  9. yea not much in it.. thats probably why its not well documented
  10. thats great.. i might as well then, i have no idea what the differances are between the types, cant find much on george V types, but the information would be great for searching deep into the depths of dealers and ebay
  11. first one is a 1770 5 kopeck, hard to value though... lots of factors with russian pieces
  12. i have an issue with the 1913...because its worn and £2.... and i'm quite into my pennies atm... so curiosity..
  13. hmm, i know that lustre can fade but keep the colour cant it? because i have seen yellow lustre before on coins of the period, only thing i can think of as well as additions, what grade is it EF?
  14. perhaps.. there are some nice pieces there, if i know what was so rare about that 1913.... but yea lower starting usualy gets the ball rolling easier anyway
  15. 1903 penny EF? grade... thought it was polished but as you can see, the wear to the raised parts shows the normal colour underneath, had this coin for many years and i like the detail.
  16. 1697 halfpenny, basically still on my project of collecting at least one coin from each monarch, (...anne will be fun...) this was the willam III i got on the cheap. i have little resources for identifying these, except for coins market values... hard to tell if there are any dots on the obverse
  17. so whats the differance? 174-7 are valued the same, whats this one?
  18. yea i know... i really need to find out what these dye numbers are 1*? whats 1*? what is making the 1913 £2? i thought all types were about the same
  19. yea how did that one get identfied... i love the 0 on lot 5 though using those pennys to identify mine...
  20. some nice coins... hope he keeps the pictures up.. its a good referance
  21. i dont have a decent 1860 to look at really.. only one i have identified is my F-15 and thats because of the obverse... struggling with my 1875 though
  22. yea that makes sence i guess... due to the fact the reverse dye pops up on later date pennys
  23. i think i have 2 of those its about 600k-1 million odd. i have a couple of the scarce 1992 small head 20p's a commowealkth games £2... and the olympic one too post is part of the problem... of course for now money is an issue.. i'm building my collection (found some good rare bits by accedent so far) so rather put money to the coins, then once i accumulate some nice bits.. send em i want to know how secure the postage is, replacing F169 penny and VF 1858 small date farthings are not exactly easy...
  24. it says in collectors coin under victorian OH pennies, that closer or wider spaced dates are worth slightly more. i have some penny examples of date spacing
  25. a bit better.
