  1. course they would care, 1975, 79 have obvious wide and narrow dates and are really mot minor differances, hence the listings. it gets dumb when you count boarder teeth and slight dye errors.
  2. there are a fair few 1839 2 prongs on ebay, might pick one up cheaply.
  3. true, but a noticable variety thats listed (1879 narrow date) is surely collectable, afterall if you saw one you would know straight away its differant, but TBH there is so little about some of these easy to spot ones i guess they aren't key. as for this survay thing, i'll post about ideas on how to make at least a rough estimate on how it works
  4. yea can get decent common piences in decent grade, i got a VF 1919 for a quid, EF 1918 with some lustre for £5, while not rare, they are very desirable and there is a list of these key dates on the site, http://www.predecimal.com/key_dates.htm how many of these are "rare" 1912H penny? where is the 1979 narrow date and 1858 small date farthing. i do think some coins are overrated 1988 pound anyone...
  5. 1912 H has a few thousand more mintage then 1922, at 16.8million, so yes over rated but they do colour nice with wear the 1925 halfcrown has a 1,413,461 which is acctually more then 1930.
  6. lol i already have one, albeit in fair, that cost me a couple of quid.
  7. i dunno few bits i might like edward VIII east africas, need that monarch for my run.., some of those farthings, pennies, a few gaps to be filled there. internet is being slow and its late, i'll put an offer in for my wants, tomorrow
  8. i cant say, i dont have freeman but there are gaps seem to be there, which means there are 2 listed in FMAN for both 54 and 55, i never knew about the extra 55 but i think freeman does have the 2 rim thickness' listed.
  9. I can't see any reference to varieties of the 1954 and 1955 farthings in Freeman?????? CCGB has 1954 665 1955 667 1956 669 and i know of the 2 ruim thicknesses in 1954
  10. dont forget the 2 variants of 1954 and 55 in freeman
  11. yea, the site covers the reverse types, as well as some unlisted overstrikes. i posted one yesterday thats not listed on the site, in unconfirmed, the obverse is... the reverse isn't
  12. see no reason to add this, had a look at this coin numerous times in differant lights and there is no sign of even a faint upper colon dot. it reads BRITANNIAR: REG: FID.DEF: most dots are faint, especially at the end of REG but they are visible
  13. yea thats a nice thing, guessing its reasonably scarse then
  14. yes toning also, i have coins that are lustrous but you cant really see it in the normal way (my 1953 penny is toned in such a way you have to rotaste the coin to see the lustre. and i have a high grade australia penny which is dark brown with great details and has a sort of shine, but not lustrous, just a shine. better if you see what i mean tbh the toning, you can see the lustre via the light reflection here and the australia example, as you can see detail is high but all it has is a shine
  15. lots of 2008 coins had random errors, lots of poorly struck 2008 pennies, but blobs of metal on 20p's seems to have happened a lot since 2003, have a fair few 20p's from this period with random raised blobs on the obverse
  16. but why just the 20p? why is there nothing on the ohter demoninations?
  17. recent buy for £2.75 couln't pass it up. my research has took me to 1708 (can JUST make out the 8) 2nd Bust E mark, and 6 strings on harp. firstly, i need more information on the paritcular type, and secondly, 6 and 7 string harps? are these specfic dates or are there both types for all dates
  18. my theory is they did that AFTER they found the error patch and used it as a check. BUT there does seem to be some cudding into the detail under the one so maybe its juts a blob
  19. human error errors then, people should really keep an eye on whats inside the machine imo
  20. because errors, are interesting, a major planchet clip is very interesting piece, its more intregue and possibly like having a rare type
  21. i love error pieces, not paying 25 euros for one though, i have a £2 2008 with no obverse dot at the bottom, a few clipped planchet pieces.
  22. been looking it up, the larger 4 seems to pop up with the 4 over 4 listing on aboutfarthings. and the 8 does look slanted but i have spotted a few interesting things on the reverse. FID. and the R in reg. could just be some odd wear to it. but it looks like someone has used a P over the R to top up the die
  23. one particular coin i'm after is going cheap.. better not be the penny i have eye on :/ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=tab%3DWatching notice the top part of the 3 is flatter like the open 3 version
  24. yes they are stupidly priced, looking at these decimal coins, UNC 80, 1995 5p for a tenner? i dont care about how UNC it is... its dumb
