  1. No book values for these bad boys.On ebay with a decent description (only 2 pictures reqd.) You might snag a mug punter.
  2. Maybe up your game and buy the best you can afford. The coins you refer to are too expensive for a melt purchase.
  3. MBE The strike quality is important to me.I would of passed on your 1929 1/4d Go get another one as you can't have too many farthings...no damage done.
  4. How come Mary's side has a lump out of it showing daylight, whereas Willies doesn't ?
  5. I think that is one Vickey was referring to. But I wasn't going to tell anyone....get it? Ebay purchases could also be a can of worms.
  6. Still undecided but the masses will follow the Red tops. I'm all for decent debates.
  7. Very nice Paul.So much for common dates/varieties.
  8. MBE I've just seen your bid on Auctionsneeker.com and regret my bid on the coin is the highest.Fingers X I get it. You missed a good example.
  9. They appear to be approaching EF but wear is quite visable. Value wise they they would struggle with EF.The VH has an edge knock just after 6 o'clock and what is happening near REG on the 91. Get yourself to a fair armed with a glass/loupe/light I bought 50+ of similar bad boys to these 10x to 45x a few years back.Sold enough on ebay to pay plus make a profit and still have 40+ left. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=magnifyer+with+light&_sop=15&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1311.R11.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xmagnify.TRS0&_nkw=magnifying+light&_sacat=0
  10. Paying for so called experts and getting diddly. 3 of them missed it...sorry there is no excuse. Might be an idea to spoof their advert that sometimes appears in Coin News..ie Raw value £300 slabbed by PCGS value £3.
  11. Can we have our own thread for the wonderful farthing/halfpennies ? Lovely examples Gents.
  12. Well done chaps.Another search is onI need to check mine I think I would have noticed though.
  13. Bob, I'm sure you could list on the back of a postage stamp the coins you dislike.
  14. Here I go,I confess.....I like halfpennies
  15. I love the history tangent of these tokens.Wow a 100ft span.An achievement in its time though.
  16. 15th & 16th July. Mates rates for the forum members ?
  17. At the NEC £1 to £1.50 Previously at the Meridian Hotel it could well of been free. At the end of the day the £2 isn't much.I would happily pay more with better amenities and visible security in the room and carpark. I would welcome any opinion from regular sellers who may bring 000's of £'s stock.I avoid the London fairs. The Wetherby fair (Cedar Court)at least has Hotel security. Maybe I'm faffing about nothing but it only needs to happen once. A table selling lotions for Coin Collectors stoop would also be welcome
  18. Don't forget the Midland opens its doors at 9:30 am now. Damn it....a good excuse to get a faster car though. I do note the admission price is creeping up.Better lighting and a refreshment area at the side of the room would be nice.
  19. If you can't beat the 1d boys join em.I did notice the thread for 1d's but didn't want to get tarred with the same brush. I got a great discount and extremely happy. The majority of my 1d's 1895-1967 are UNC or there abouts apart from the obvious key dates.I have also secured a few quality Edward V11 1/2d's from across the pond.So there is life after 1/4d's....well sort of. I've got my DIY and Car hats on at present, trouble is I have scratched my left eye and DIY has been banned until this heals.
  20. This little beauty arrived today.Obviously sellers pictures. In hand it is fantastic. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222007959476?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  21. Welcome back Colin.Thank goodness a collector of proper non penny coins is back. Congratulations on your new family member. It must be recognized that it us chaps who put all the hard work in.
  22. Nice Just check the rims for signs of solder or any mounting marks....cracking 1st coin.
  23. Seems a shame to sell it to be melted.Just a short time ago it would of got £280 on ebay.
  24. Non I love the improvement.Daylight bulbs look the way to go until Spring. My hands are not as steady as Dave's despite going on the wagon in 2016. I'm going to save myself for a couple of Cubans and malt for the balmy Summer evenings.
