Can't see how the 1d is worth anything apart from nearly oz of cu.The 2d isn't too bad and I'm sure would get £20 on ebay.

I bought a job lot of them a few years back with a view to selling on ebay,but they are now in every drawer in the house so always at hand. They are easy to chuck in your pocket...you never know when you might need one. The capsuals I ordered are also VERY SIMILAR They come in a zip seal bag rather than the trademarked cardboard containers.

Chris Just ordered your Irish coin book from Amazon.It would be useful to have all your books as a banner on the forum. I often direct people to your books (I'm a nice chap). There are a lot of Irish Americans out there.

The F77 maybe upgraded but it would still be a keeper. IMO Nice coin.

£1 = $2 Aussie's .....there were a few nice coins at reasonable prices.

Krause prices are $.On Ebay UK you would be lucky to get many takers.

My memory is a bit tardy but I think the mint initially published incorrect mintage's for the Kew 50p.I bought a BU example for a couple of £ on the strength of the lower figure. I've never looked at it since and have no immediate plans to do so. I wonder what the next Daily Mail scoop will be.

All of the mintage are being sort after by collectors/Daily Mail readers which make them common to those who want them. The best chance to pick one up I guess will be at fruit machine arcades although unlikely to be picked up in better than EF.

Why people want a Kew Gardens 50p at current ebay prices is beyond me.They will settle down to £10-15 in a couple of years.

Yes....Big time,George 111 1775 is an extremely common date. Don't forget at the time it was the lowest denomination circulating coin and the value was in the cu.There was also a shortage of these coins so needs must....hence lighter counterfeits.

I've put mileage in on 10/- and £1 notes....I had to knock the completest out of me as I was starting to spend a bit on replacement notes.I haven't bought a note for about 10 years although spent many!

Welcome Tommy,The gothic crown is notorious in being faked.There are many experienced collectors who have been duped and probably many crowns sit in collections with the collector unaware.The problem with yours is that it seems to have been quite heavily circulated and this would be extremely rare(unheard of for a proof)If you submitted this to CGS they would authenticate(or not)the coin.The source of your purchase would be a good starting point. http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=146846 This is another forum I am a member of and these gothics have been discussed at length.Hope this helps
