On the outermost edge of the crown it looks like a cast-line, a rough surface left by the machine that makes hundreds a day. The face of George appears to lack detail and the coin appears "grainy" rather than a smooth surface that these coins normally have.

The one with attractive patchy toning and little wear is worth more than yours. Just rinsing a coin under the tap does not count as cleaning, just make sure to dry the coin if it's copper etc... Cleaning is using chemicals or something like a coarse brush to get dirt off.

Wait 'til you see how they sell hammereds Chris! I've been campaigning against them for many months as they scam newbies to the hammered market.

My thoughts are that someone, perhaps a schoolboy or a lover, put the initials of a partner or himself on the coin for the novelty factor. I have sold many cartwheel pennies which have had initials stamped onto them and found out that it was the initials of a market trader, it could have been some form of advertising for his clients. Either way this is definitely post-mint.

The two letters on the obverse look like a standard countermark to me, i.e. someone's initials have been put on it after it left the mint.

A jeton is a token or a counter, very common and found all over Europe.

Have any pictures? As for your collection, it's up to you. You could sell it, keep it, continue collecting etc... Cheers, Clive.

Top right is an Angel/Half-angel weight and the one in the middle of the top row looks like a Noble/Ryal etc... weight, I'm interested in these and have several already. Most were shipped in from the low countries. Kindest Regards, Clive.

I always find that quoting the price that they'll have to pay at the post office helps, usually £1.24 for 1st Recorded. Always makes them feel guilty!

If your unclipped coin is considerably less than 2.3 cm in diameter then you have yourself a halfgroat, I'd guess that yu've found a groat as they're more common. Cheers, Clive.

I bought two coins from the States and the guy sent it to my PO Box too, but Parcel Force sent me a letter asking me to pick it up or arrange redelivery, not bad! Free redelivery too!! I mainly deal with people in the UK, but US, Australia, France, Belgium, Canada and Germany are frequent customers/sellers to me. I haven't had any major problems with international transactions apart from one to Saudi Arabia... As with Royal Mail, I have quite a few problems with them but I always get my compensation so it's not too bad. I agree with Richard, you can pick up some very rare coins from international sellers as they often cannot ID the coin exactly, it's usually only to a denomination and a monarch so I can pick up a bargain in regards to mint, class, moneyer etc...
