  1. now thats interesting, I did do a search and counted the other lower star shape as leaves with berries, making the 4 either side hence why I thought aha this is the 27 count...The numista I previously took a look at https://en.numista.com/24095 and this Numista only mentioned 28,27 & 25....many thanks for pointing this out πŸ‘
  2. I have a few colonial coins that are in need of sorting out, today this was fished out of the pot of others, I'm pleased I did as after a warm soapy soak (and it was well minging!!!) all of the circulation hand grease and crud washed off left the coin's details come out. its pretty good for a Victorian Colonial...πŸ‘ unsure of the grade but better than just good... 27 berries, W.W. raised.
  3. found in my box amongst the other unidentified hammered silver coins... yet to be identified...!?! is its possible that this could be .... Medieval Crusader Coin Bronze Denier or Follis... issued by Tancred of Antioch 1101-1112....?

  4. Wow...this is amazing, I take all of this and add it to a paper square that I slot into the file pocket with the coin in question....once I have things in date order so end up moving coins along so the newly identified sits in date order.... πŸ‘this information is incredibly interesting and forever retained....Many many thanks it is greatly appreciated. πŸ™
  5. Hi Rob, I have a copy of the spinks, which is useful I will look to improve on the lack of coin literature.... reading can be bit difficult and tiring....Withers small change book I have made a note of. I have a feeling when buying the individual sellers knew very little of them like I did when buying them...since sorting out life I now looking to put things in order...best I can... By chance is it possible to identify which Edward it is? many thanks "H" πŸ‘
  6. Following from last years Hammered Coins and now of a greater understanding..... the measurements are in mm, the weight is 0.24 grms Ive sized it up against them that have already been identified and matches close to the hammered Half Pennies that I have... Civi Taz Lon Don ...City of London. Edward.......to be advise.. Any comments greatly welcome... Many thanks "H" πŸ‘πŸ™
  7. I have been looking at some duplicates coins in regards to keeping or moving on...... I scrutinised this one and checked its condition......I found that the letter E on the Reverse looks like its either deformed or part missing? there's no sign of wear or damage to the rest of the coin..... Could it be that it left the mint like this? Many thanks "H"
  8. Aha..and as I have read.....it came about due to King Charles I was executed for high treason in 1649, after a civil war pitting his supporters against Parliament for control of the country...... πŸ€”
  9. when rediscovered. these were put to one side a year ago... I was looking through Spink and happened upon 2 pages 1649-60 commonwealth..... now I have been focused on Edwards, Short crosses, Long Crosses, Voided etc etc but then realised that I had these 2... yes they are rubbed but clear enough..... any thing I may be missing? opinions welcome... (Apologies.... actual weights to follow πŸ‘)
  10. Wow, Stu spotted it... to think is been hanging around for ever (thinking it was solid silver) so yeah its a keep contemporary forgery would be of interest to me. may thanks "H"
  11. .....ah? ,,,,contemporary forgery... Now thats an Idea ......anyone up on theses?
  12. Again another opinion required in regards to a worn out William III Half Crown, 16_ _ , Chester Mint ? Large Shield its very rubbed but looks like is lived in the ground, ..... is it Scrap or worth keeping? Many thanks "H"
  13. The Half Crowns I will leave for now, they need looking at before I have them scrappedπŸ‘
  14. I also have theses Half Crowns... to the pot or keep? sorry to keep asking only I can see that if I don't sort things out they will remain sat in a box in a cupboard and inevitably end up being thrown.....😟
  15. Many thanks, I have a few worn out coins but the general thought is better to show just in case something gets missed, I tried looking on Ebay to see if one looks in the same condition....it was a space filler and as I was working through my boxes...I found another that's so much better and now added in place of this rubbed out one. Many thanks "H"
  16. ahhhhhhh..........! I understand its bad form to talk "whats it worth?" for me the difficulty is the way silver prices are and how some of the lower grade older coins are able to get a realistic Idea of what the sell price should be? The George I, SSC Shilling 1723 Is something that I will be looking to move on, I don't see it as scrap but its not in fine condition....a difficult call.... many thanks for any input or guidance....most welcome. πŸ‘
  17. this isnt the best photo, I will see if i can get a better one...πŸ‘
  18. Found the others today....A fair devil indeed....
  19. A bit off topic...however it may be of interest...? Victorian Farthing, 1838 there is a line that links NIA in the word BRITANNIAR some of the A's look like solid Bars along the bottom ....unless these are common? any input and if its a "keep" greatly welcome πŸ‘
  20. Ahhhhhh...! so the H mint coin had the potential to be of interest albeit for the fact 1882 was mass produced by Heatons.....bummer!! 1862 circulated so no interest 1773 & 1775 are possibly contemporary forgery produced in the US ..... now that got to be of interest ?!?!?! Did I mention "I don't feel any thing for the Pennies!?!" all the very best "H"
  21. Aha, A few more raise their heads, Interestingly one has the "H" Heaton Mint Mark...I understand that this may be the most interesting of the group? open and honest I don't feel any thing for the Pennies, looking just to keep the important ones for the family. any advise or guidance most welcome.
  22. Ah... its the counterstamps that I would like to pursue, I have some Reales that have various Chinese counterstamps that are believed to be merchant stamps... the other 2 attached are British coins counterstamped to be used in other country's so looking to find out where?
  23. Aha.. do tell more..I have a few and have been wondering where to go to discover more details out... any Ideas where to go? πŸ‘
  24. I couldn't agree more, I didn't have a agenda when buying coins and not knowing anything I bought any items I found old and interesting .....and cheap 🀷I like Paddy's with chunk missing...It has character, I have a few that have chunks missing and others with holes that have been worn as a pendants..... one is in a really good condition easy to make out the king and letters... I guess this came to be as it was worn rather than in circulation. πŸ‘
