  1. to me its looks mis shaped, most of my milled coins are more circular, with this one I would appreciate any opinions the 1692 looks .......wonky ? would this have been turned out this way or happened through circulation?
  2. ??? its odd how these have found there way to me, The hammered ones that I picked up over the years and not realizing that they were from all over the world..... this is a Hungary Denier - Ferdinand II I think its 1622...but not being an expert so stand to be corrected if wrong πŸ‘
  3. I did note that its a degree smaller than the other florins that I have in the set... I did throw me for awhile but Diameter 28 mm is correct. unlike the others at Diameter 28.50 mm πŸ‘
  4. a early Florin minted only for 1848-1849... unfortunately its not in the best of condition, rubbed with a gash 😟 I did read some of these have smaller numbers... I take it this is the large numbers ?
  5. ah another different coin / token appears, Coin distributed by Beecroft & Sons toy shop (Nottingham, United Kingdom) as a means of advertising.
  6. Many Thanks for the input, during the early days when I joined the forum I asked about values but now realise establishing what I have and its condition / grade is more important... Its really appreciated that more experienced collectors are helping out as I work through my hoard... this will be a keep. πŸ‘
  7. So the reason of asking is if a coin is rare its condition goes by the side a little... this crown although its seen circulation is in quite good condition.... details are legible and minor rubbing... where would this Crown sit on the grade scale?
  8. on looking through the pages ...I do have a 1840 Groat and others with duplicates😲 ...looks quite good as well. πŸ‘
  9. wow....so its wrong font...Awesome to know this.. it looked odd so now all explained. many thanks for thisπŸ‘
  10. Today more sorting out and I found a shilling its dated 1857, on magnifying it highlighted that the numbers were different sizes the 7 has a few blobs deformation to it as well ... possibly done at the mint with numbers changed as worn out?
  11. looking at the Half penny's that I have , like yours the details are still very vivid also being silver you'd think that they'd been cashed in melted down and re used ... Ive found 5 Halves that I have ...as yet no quarters, Hopefully others will join in, it will be of interest.... πŸ‘
  12. Four Pence Victorian 1840 & 1877 (Maundy) Delving through the hoard today...... and these two I though were worth a show as they are in incredible condition.... which is a bit of a rarity amongst my lot.... 😲
  13. in take of breath........ So looking through everything and believe that this is a Henry VII Penny, York Mint 1485-1500 Weight 0.5 obverse side completely rubbed the reverse side shows keys below the shield... so York Mint. so is it by chance Spink 2235 ? possibly rare? I have also found it to be called a "sovereign penny" but unsure if this is correct.
  14. cheers Stuart πŸ‘
  15. many thanks for looking into this, the previous owner was a long time ago before I would have got it circa 1990's so Its great to finally have these looked and corrected, as all that I now have identified live in a page with others and I retain all of the information with the coins...albeit parts of coins .... very well done and much appreciated πŸ™
  16. This one comes with a slip of paper... Henry II, Short Cross, Class I ON. LVND. London Mint ? Coys55 helped out with the last ones and I remember that the name HENRICVS cover the reigns of Henry II, Richard, John and Henry III Any confirmation if this is correct would be a great welcome, Many Thanks "H"
  17. James I Half Groat ..... ive been keeping away from the hammered pennies as Its tiring and needs a break for awhile.. I have others already identified of and fairly confidant that its ... weight 1 grm James I, Half Groat , Second Coinage 1621 - 1623 m.m. Thistle any comments welcome....🫑

  19. I'm no expert in the slightest .... I did take look at Spink and saw 1272 Double inscription type coin, this is all very interesting and sure the other will be able to help out, all the best "H"
  20. the Half Crowns
  21. aaaaaah, the bagged coins have now been looked at, keeping quite a few that I dont have dates for etc, the bags contain Half Crowns, One Florins, Shillings and a Victorian Crown (ex mount) I have a box of keeps that contains ... duplicates, flaws, and other in to good condition to part with.....I will show the one florin that's a roman numeral date, its completely rubbed so its impossible to date.... the half crowns are duplicates and circulated....I will add some photos of these. πŸ‘
  22. Hi is it possible to see the obverse ...
  23. Today I looked back through them that remained of Grandads coins (photo Attached), I recall there was a Topic of the cost of silver... it was mentioned that at the announcement that coins would be Half Silver caused people to hoard solid silver coins pre 1920's .....thinking on this I now think this may have been my Grandfathers thought....as none of the coins are in great condition and no serious though has gone into his hoard... the 3 pence dates were random and 7 x of the same date??!?! yeah he had a Stash / Hoard on the go, Looking skyward "God Bless you Fella!" I've sifted through and will keep them that are acceptable, the scrap ones can be sold and fund decent examples to fill in gaps.... I think this is the road to be taking.
  24. A repeat revisiting of this topic...... I am able to confirm they weigh 1.2 grms each, By chance can the Edward be Identified on the coins, I'm trying to deal with ones that are outstanding before progressing.... Many Thanks "H"
