  1. the reverse looks like is over stamped ..... a lot going on with this coin ...... πŸ€”
  2. following on ..... and on closer inspection ......is this a fault with the die..... πŸ€”
  3. 1 Shilling 1917 - George III (New coinage) unusual for my hoard to find a relatively very good condition coin, !?!?!? a few dings to the face area but no real signs of wear..... would this be a VF ? πŸ€”
  4. 1 silver Penny - George I (Maundy) 1 silver Penny - George III (Maundy) 1 Penny - Victoria 1st portrait (Maundy) more sifting through the hoard and found these...... they seem worthy of a show as they seem to be in quite good condition with minimal signs of wear....πŸ‘

  6. Still putting things in order......and thought this worthy of a show and tell.... Ive had a match box with really small coins,...Boot Fairs mainly and were dismissed as being foreign and found without any interest by others.... I recall someone said they are silver... so I was picking them up for pennies and stashed to sort out another day.... the years fly by and this Standard circulation coin of Canada .... noted today there's date number 8 below is another 8......Is this a true Rarity??? have I found a scares coin? interestingly its been in circulation and never been kept, imagine it is its early days.... wow all the same its unusual to me. ☺️Enjoy "H"

  11. so just found amongst some Victorian crowns in the hoard... 8 Reales 1852, MEXICO there has been a recent chat about Counter stamps and chop marks.....I didn't realise I had one!?!??! πŸ˜• (These coins, made of 90.3% silver, not only consolidated the post-independence Mexican economy but also circulated in markets as far away as China and the Philippines.) 8 Reales 1799 - Charles IV, Spanish, for me? a Awesome find...! πŸ‘πŸ™

  16. Hey Paddy, wow...another contemporary forgery....I did wonder as yes it looked the wrong colour....it was one of Grandads hoard so not sure he was caught out by this or just chucked the collection, if nothing else it will be a talking point...many thanks Paddy for all the input.....Rgds "H"
  17. taken some time to revisit Grandads hoard, these I felt were worth listing although rubbed. George III 1816 1 Shilling new coinage. George I 1723 1 SS,C Shilling 1st Bust
  18. Many thanks, its reassuring to have other opinions especially when there's doubt is going around in my mind..... admittedly I do sympathetically wash the grubby ones over removing the hand grime and god only knows what else they have been covered in...however this one I left well alone.....other than the colour its in a more than air condition so its a keep, πŸ‘many thanks fellas, Cheers "H"
  19. Today I found this crown thats been on the side for some months.....I admittedly am a cleaner of grubby coins, warm soapy water soak and a soft tooth brush. the coins that otherwise have been dismissed turn out to be quite a good grade hiding under all of the grime... I dont polish or remove tarnish....which leads to the attached. this is untouched by me, I have been wondering if the tarnish is artificial ? it looks an odd / even colour to me.... any comments welcome....
  20. ah... ok that's promising, I will keep anything that is scarce....although over 30 odd years ago I did have Pennies checked out that were dismissed... they seem to be making a come back.. I did move them on and perused hammered and others..... many thanks for the updates. πŸ‘
