many thanks for looking into this, the previous owner was a long time ago before I would have got it circa 1990's so Its great to finally have these looked and corrected, as all that I now have identified live in a page with others and I retain all of the information with the coins...albeit parts of coins .... very well done and much appreciated 🙏

This one comes with a slip of paper... Henry II, Short Cross, Class I ON. LVND. London Mint ? Coys55 helped out with the last ones and I remember that the name HENRICVS cover the reigns of Henry II, Richard, John and Henry III Any confirmation if this is correct would be a great welcome, Many Thanks "H"

James I Half Groat ..... ive been keeping away from the hammered pennies as Its tiring and needs a break for awhile.. I have others already identified of and fairly confidant that its ... weight 1 grm James I, Half Groat , Second Coinage 1621 - 1623 m.m. Thistle any comments welcome....🫡

the I in SIX on the left looks wider towards the base of the letter...... to me.....🤔

I'm no expert in the slightest .... I did take look at Spink and saw 1272 Double inscription type coin, this is all very interesting and sure the other will be able to help out, all the best "H"

the Half Crowns

aaaaaah, the bagged coins have now been looked at, keeping quite a few that I dont have dates for etc, the bags contain Half Crowns, One Florins, Shillings and a Victorian Crown (ex mount) I have a box of keeps that contains ... duplicates, flaws, and other in to good condition to part with.....I will show the one florin that's a roman numeral date, its completely rubbed so its impossible to date.... the half crowns are duplicates and circulated....I will add some photos of these. 👍

Today I looked back through them that remained of Grandads coins (photo Attached), I recall there was a Topic of the cost of silver... it was mentioned that at the announcement that coins would be Half Silver caused people to hoard solid silver coins pre 1920's .....thinking on this I now think this may have been my Grandfathers thought....as none of the coins are in great condition and no serious though has gone into his hoard... the 3 pence dates were random and 7 x of the same date??!?! yeah he had a Stash / Hoard on the go, Looking skyward "God Bless you Fella!" I've sifted through and will keep them that are acceptable, the scrap ones can be sold and fund decent examples to fill in gaps.... I think this is the road to be taking.

A repeat revisiting of this topic...... I am able to confirm they weigh 1.2 grms each, By chance can the Edward be Identified on the coins, I'm trying to deal with ones that are outstanding before progressing.... Many Thanks "H"

now thats interesting, I did do a search and counted the other lower star shape as leaves with berries, making the 4 either side hence why I thought aha this is the 27 count...The numista I previously took a look at https://en.numista.com/24095 and this Numista only mentioned 28,27 & 25....many thanks for pointing this out 👍

I have a few colonial coins that are in need of sorting out, today this was fished out of the pot of others, I'm pleased I did as after a warm soapy soak (and it was well minging!!!) all of the circulation hand grease and crud washed off left the coin's details come out. its pretty good for a Victorian Colonial...👍 unsure of the grade but better than just good... 27 berries, W.W. raised.

found in my box amongst the other unidentified hammered silver coins... yet to be identified...!?! is its possible that this could be .... Medieval Crusader Coin Bronze Denier or Follis... issued by Tancred of Antioch 1101-1112....?

Wow...this is amazing, I take all of this and add it to a paper square that I slot into the file pocket with the coin in question....once I have things in date order so end up moving coins along so the newly identified sits in date order.... 👍this information is incredibly interesting and forever retained....Many many thanks it is greatly appreciated. 🙏

Hi Rob, I have a copy of the spinks, which is useful I will look to improve on the lack of coin literature.... reading can be bit difficult and tiring....Withers small change book I have made a note of. I have a feeling when buying the individual sellers knew very little of them like I did when buying them...since sorting out life I now looking to put things in order...best I can... Following from last years Hammered Coins and now of a greater understanding..... the measurements are in mm, the weight is 0.24 grms Ive sized it up against them that have already been identified and matches close to the hammered Half Pennies that I have... Civi Taz Lon Don ...City of London. Edward.......to be advise.. Any comments greatly welcome... Many thanks "H" 👍🙏

I have been looking at some duplicates coins in regards to keeping or moving on...... I scrutinised this one and checked its condition......I found that the letter E on the Reverse looks like its either deformed or part missing? there's no sign of wear or damage to the rest of the coin..... Could it be that it left the mint like this? Many thanks "H"

Aha..and as I have read.....it came about due to King Charles I was executed for high treason in 1649, after a civil war pitting his supporters against Parliament for control of the country...... 🤔

when rediscovered. these were put to one side a year ago... I was looking through Spink and happened upon 2 pages 1649-60 commonwealth..... now I have been focused on Edwards, Short crosses, Long Crosses, Voided etc etc but then realised that I had these 2... yes they are rubbed but clear enough..... any thing I may be missing? opinions welcome... (Apologies.... actual weights to follow 👍)

Again another opinion required in regards to a worn out William III Half Crown, 16_ _ , Chester Mint ? Large Shield its very rubbed but looks like is lived in the ground, ..... is it Scrap or worth keeping? Many thanks "H"

The Half Crowns I will leave for now, they need looking at before I have them scrapped👍
