  1. Heh. I think if I were in the market for an ... inexpensive ... 1696 William III crown, I'd spend about £40 more... https://www.ebay.com/itm/267680267467?_skw=william+III+crown&itmmeta=01KTXMYXP9ZX8YEWMM0R42PBG9&hash=item3e52fcbccb:g:-BgAAeSw-7BqFFkB&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA0GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xAC2siVMxwuEmIkSb09NzHjbAJylzcku4DTGlSMlkrvowGK8wAOFrKxMBOleKQopG6Ahv7Uly1Rp72Syf%2BIdobKYcmhmWvHcdzP8f2lOUkxaa9pUcirOphDQYAt361LlEBzgeuRhmrZZQd%2BFzxLXRG7Pk%2BU0p7LwPV%2BJmklVMb1r4POn1XnuEM0LHTOHi0vRcx3OgewKJuCxy%2BwZ98j6zY4dYScrcjJjRv47Cd8YoYR5wB8Sfb0jfUBtQ%2B7wOKcD8A%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6jb-7TXZw
  2. The UK £sd may have been accepted but they started coining their own dollar in 1865 with cent coins and going to 50 cents in silver and 2 dollars in gold. I do find the 50 cent coin to have a very beautiful portrait of Victoria. I have too many desires and not enough money, but a type set of Newfoundland coins (one of each denomination & monarch) would be a terribly fun set to get.
  3. No, from sol or solidus. The livre had 240 deniers (pennies) or 20 sou (sol) to the Livre (Livre tournois) or pound of silver which should sound slightly familiar around here 😉
  4. I am tempted to get a "one a year" while ignoring the privy marks.
  5. My son isn't helping - he bought me a 2021 today 🤣
  6. I'm not into stacking but I always thought the Britannia looked good. Just because I think that it’s a nice looking silver coin, I added a 1 oz. .999 fine silver Britannia to my collection. Mostly these are aimed at silver bugs but eh, I like it. By letting them send a random year, it was like $10~15 cheaper but I think I got lucky - Liz’s portrait is better than Charlie’s, IMO. From 2018:
  7. Which is where I got one for £180
  8. My information shows 717,041 1932 Florins. Not a huge number, but compared to the 15,000 of 1927 they're fairly easy to find. An XF40 NGC rated one is on eprey for $294 at the moment. Others for $50+ are there as well. Finding a 1927 was much more difficult.
  9. Interesting. I don't know why about the half crowns. I did just order a proof 1927 florin (only available in proof that year) and an UNC 1927 Wreath Crown from The Coin King so I'm eagerly awaiting them.
  10. Oh, cool. I'd never noticed the cinquefoil stops on my 1845 crown. Learn something new every day.
  11. I have just found and ordered books on Netherlands and French coins because of running into that the problems with the online sources not always agreeing. Also ordered a 1927 Wreath Crown and that's setting be back almost as much as the 1898 Netherlands 2 1/2 Gulden without dot in "P Pander". The 1858 XF florin and 1927 proof florin were cheap by comparison! Def cut's back this weeks beers. 🤣
  12. There was a copper farthing in 1714 with Anne on it. According to https://en.numista.com/13073 There are no silver pattern coins listed. So, yes, I would say that that was an easily discovered fake and that the seller should be considered unsafe.
  13. Someone actually bought this Temu Gothic Crown... from Hong Kong! https://www.ebay.com/itm/157871585964?_skw=gothic+crown+coin&itmmeta=01KRQ7VFAEVC91F9FWVYNBQEYS&hash=item24c1e13aac:g:0pEAAeSwVQJopiyR&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA8GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xCiHPT1dIqsSUVD65WmtEkl1%2Bnl70mlRW1AmIqpbzP%2B%2BWh7qLJpsJ4EY379bCQl6EXDxG%2FtGJmxbqUrKDqbOOJteyQyptnRKYk4C1PQHMCa%2B5GL%2FVGwQyPlqMTPyzWokUHuJ4YZ0JmVYGzCHdYqG6NH2QmuyL%2FRAbCwCOIV2L0CQEJnpBSoduOCKBb3dfGEtndLTQ9OFm1MzvZjZ2LDpLas4tilOkJu%2BG5IpxJ5oqi%2BoOb0JqgBZm3cBN9bdLZDrVlOG6%2BN2npKT5vzc4jzhLP71YUsYY6%2BKYMFiLWr8tvvEQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7D17efFZw
  14. Actually got mine early last week. Cool book and it's good to have that reference. Have you worked out anything about the Irish book? Thanks!
  15. The repatriation has more to do with Trump's sticky fingers than any "gold standard" since there is nowhere near enough gold in the world to run the modern economies. Xi is far more interested in getting the Yaun turned into the standard currency rather than the dollar, especially for buying oil.
