  1. I've got my vaccine appointment next Tuesday!
  2. Forgive me if I state something in the "bleedin' obvious" category: if they are die scratches then surely the resulting flaws would be raised not incuse?
  3. And another 60% on this... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1942-UK-Great-Britain-United-Kingdom-KING-GEORGE-VI-Silver-SIXPENCE-Coin-i56882/322197903225?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3Deb86fc7adf024cb8bb07eb719563d77c%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D284164234670%26itm%3D322197903225%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithDarwoV3BBEV2b&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851
  4. Apparently, you can "save" 60% on this 1787 sixpence https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1787-UK-Great-Britain-United-Kingdom-KING-GEORGE-III-Silver-Sixpence-Coin-i88107/233874301238?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3Deb86fc7adf024cb8bb07eb719563d77c%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D284164234670%26itm%3D233874301238%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithDarwoV3BBEV2b&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851
  5. 1923 is the easiest date in that series.
  6. I might be wrong about the 1972 set then - Coin Monthly adverts pre-76 would confirm.
  7. It is definitely the rarest 1971 penny dated 2016...
  8. I can just make out the O - the G would be underlying if an error overstruck? Also, errors of that kind so late (i.e. after Mint electrification) are vanishingly rare except for dates. Interesting though.
  9. Yes - I think the sequence was probably: 1971, 1972, 1970... then a gap before 1973 - 1976 were issued more or less all together?
  10. Don't get it. Minniehaha: (thinks... "Nor do I")
  11. The 1970 proofs weren't struck until after D Day and possibly quite a bit after that? It's quite possible that 2 Mints were therefore used, though given the numbers involved I'd have thought that was extremely inefficient. As for the '1968 halfpenny', that used obverse dies from 1956 so maybe they were using old dies in London prior to demonetisation?
  12. I've heard it said an UNC 1864 is rarer than an UNC 1869.
  13. Indeed - there's a gold Victorian sov in one tin. Is a "restrike" of a gold coin also in gold?
  14. Fake? Whatever next?
  15. Yes, but not the current currency ones, and they are the ones that could (should) be abolished.
  16. Absolutely right - singletons of what COULD just be a misstrike are curiosities only until more turn up.
  17. Though it's a long time since people referred to currency coins as "pennies". For years and years now they've been Trump's running mate.
  18. Someone should inform her that - yes, it's true! - Jane Austen actually did write Pride and Prejudice.
  19. Shooting gallery? He SHOULD be shot after the Capitol riot. Impeachment's too good for him!
  20. Somewhere. But it will take forever to dig it out!
  21. Maybe. But it would be a shame to lose a denomination we've had for 2000 years - it's just a matter of knowing which coin to apply the name to.
  22. That's "Priti" Patel!!! Why does Gove still look like a slapped fish even as a woman? The words "bargepole" "foot" "wouldn't" "ten" "touch" "I" "it" "with" "a" come to mind.
  23. So that's nearly 2 and a half times the value of 1p ! Even the 2p is worth less than a farthing.
  24. I also liked The Two Ronnies Swedish phrasebook... F U N E X ? S, V F X F U N E M ? 9. V F N 10 E M (girl walks by carrying large ham) O - U F M !! O K, V F M O K - M N X 4 2
  25. I'm tempted to think she - or her shill - is 3***i looking at the bids.
