    What do they mean, "the only one of its kind known"? The only 1990 20p struck on the wrong planchet? Quite probably. But what about other 'known' coins struck on the wrong planchet? They are all unique misstrikes and therefore only of interest to those who collect such things. Is there anyone here even remotely interested?

    I'd be gobsmacked tbh - there's no shortage of coins struck on the wrong planchet. £100 seems nearer the mark.

    It is thought that experimentation with that had already occurred by 1923, that is *IF* the 1922 penny with similar reverse to 1927 was actually struck in 1922 (my own thought is that it could well have been struck later - to strike a few pennies with a date of 1923/24/25 could have been problematic if they got out).

    I searched for "field image" and there was nothing relevant that came up. I'd suggest that if your site still apparently functions ok, I wouldn't worry about mysterious messages from Google.

    The local Cote Brasserie only accepts card payments and have done ever since after the first lockdown. I'm hoping I enoy a good meal there and then their card machine breaks down! I don't carry cash ... I did once unexpectedly go to B&Q. I looked around, wondered where I was for several minutes, then went up to the counter and asked for a packet of frozen peas. And four candles...

    He says it's BUNC - surely it's spelled BUNK, which itself must be a typo for JUNK.

    That's a ludicrous price. You shouldn't pay more than around £25 (at most) for a BU 1938.

    Fascinating - though they must have known that it was to be the new 20p, introduced the following year.

    If E over R what do you think about the protrusion showing above the E downstroke, which could not possibly be an R ?

    Tonight there could be heavy rain in the SW - and overnight is the ideal time!

    I'd say quite possibly E over B ? The top picture quite clearly shows the lower loop curving left back towards the downstroke, which the R wouldn't do. There's also something else going on above the E - something protruding above the top right hand side of the downstroke, and something to the right of the top serif which could in no way form part of an R

    Indeed - though there are several scarce varieties, e.g. initials on truncation, and overstamped letters in VICTORIA, which mine isn't.

    I'd say proofs in a cabinet are fine. They might tone (or not) but would remain FDC.
