  1. but what is there to do?...we cannot speak out otherwise we may be classed as racist/sexist/homophobic etc...what are we allowed to do that will not get us into these prediciments...Nothing! after not reading the daily mail nor my gran reads it, i find it quite interesting in the sence that the daily mail is trying to do something?...but still, what grounds do we have to speak out?...
  2. No!!! ...i hadn't heard of this until now, but it is absolute Bull$#!T!!! not to be racist, but i hate the way that this country is run...my gran was telling me of how my aunt was thrown out of a Little shef on the M4 because the asian man at the counter said "We dont serve white people"...if asians are allowed to do that, why cant we?...example: a white man could be arrested for disalowing an asian man into his shop, whereas an asian man would (knowing this country) probably get payed for doing that to a white man... Absolute rediculous...
  3. Looking through my Coin Yearbook 1979, i came accross 3 varieties of the chirchill crown...which of these is rarer; Milled edge, curled tail of R in Chirchill Milled edge, non-curled tail of R in Chirchill Plain edge
  4. Im safe too then...
  5. hmm, looking at that coin again, it may be possible if the seller could have put a five pence head-first onto a piece of wood, layed a penny on top of it and then struck it with a hammer; thus creating double designe, and the wierd blank on the obverse...could it?
  6. were theese in a folder?
  7. hmm, thats a new one...i have no idea on the value of it, but i would keep it for a few years if i were you...what condition is it in?

  12. Ok then, i suppose i should start; Inscription; Obv: Victoria Dei Grattia, Rev: FID DEF IND IMP 1893 Alloy; Silver Description; The coin shows Victoria's older head, it is slightly bigger and thicker then a penny... (An easy one to start off )
  13. The recognise the coin game... Ok, i have just came up with this game for us in our spare time, not only can this keep us occupied but it can teach us too ...The Rules: Sombody posts a discription of a coin; Description, inscription, alloy ect... but do not make it too simple. Sombody else replies with what they think the coin is and what the monarch is... Easy really
  14. sorry to intrude, but did the sovereign price ever go down from 240 predecimal pennies to 100 decimal pennies, or did it follow all other coinage and go to 120 decimal pennies?
  15. Yes, a sovereign would probably never be accepted for buying something...it is leagal tender, but you would never (well, i doubt you would ever) find someone spending it...do you still see crowns being spent in shops...but they are still legal tender
  16. definately... William, i said december '63 - The Four Seasons, and the Four seasons were the first to perform it it was made some time around 1965 - 1979 (900th post )

  20. hmm, i still know that silver wasnt on 'cupro-nickel' coins from 1947...i am not stupid HPJ
  21. sorry to say this, but shut up HPJ...bronze coins are called coppers, they are not copper...i am not going to waste time typing, or saying cupro-nickel every time i mention that i am crap at grading it! ...
  22. read the quote above yours HPJ...i think that it is wierd too, but i am not really good at grading silver coins, but it does have full lustre with very little scratching...
