  1. With £2 coins, some are worth much more than face value, but largely most are literally face. The ones you want to look for are * Single metal "Claim of Rights" * Commonwealth games (2002) England * Commonwealth games (2002) Northern Ireland * Olympic handover 2008 A few others - error coins Royal Navy - Cat on the mast and Full flag error are the main contenders, pretty much everything else is £2 unless it's in uncirculated condition. I will now be hung at dawn as this is clearly Post Decimal
  2. I'm ashamed to say I don't have a copy of Peck yet, so I'm basing my comment on Freeman showing options of 7+G and 7+I and am too "green" to know if it's the same thing.
  3. There is also a mysterious 6+J variety for 1873, but my eyes were too tired to go hunting about for that one to compare!
  4. Nope, I see an icky blob of tape residue though
  5. I'll go with 7+G (but don't include myself in the "experts")
  6. I hope it's my hangover that makes me think you aren't kidding
  7. Looks like the Tsunami variety to me
  8. Jesus Zoo, no wonder Ireland is skint!!!
  9. @Rob does have a point. I narrowed my subject down to Victoria and coins I like, and coins I buy and coins in presentation packs and sets which I also buy, plus some others and also odd job-lots. Plus a few bank notes. I try my best not to get involved in anything not directly British.
  10. Look up at the ad above
  11. I wouldn't bank on modern commemoratives giving you any wealth either now or in future. Many (as advertised on TV) are a complete waste of cash, but the general rule is, if you enjoy them and you're happy with what you paid, then that's ok.
  12. Welcome to the forum As you've already purchased some commemoratives, I'd say that you ualready found the starting point. I can personally reccommend reading through some of the posts here on the coins you like the look of to give you more info. The search box is your friend.
  13. That's why this is a "Take 2" . I originally thought I saw it, and checked somewhere else and thought I was bonkers, in the end I canned the first thread http://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/12448-look-over-there/
  14. £3 Lol. No, thats why I'd be waiting for a sell for a quid maximum. That way I can set it up for a BIN without fear of the fees.
  15. Ah, but you have your finger on the pulse as it were, so you'd have a much better feeling for this market than I would going by fleabay or old LC sales etc. I guess I'll list it on fleabay soon (when I get a sell for £1 max email), but until then I'm open to offers.
  16. Out of interest, what's it worth? I don't think I want to get into penny varieties yet, so it may well fund some more Vickies instead if it's worth it.
  17. Thanks @Paddy thats a great offer. Will PM you later(Tomorrow). I was only going through the grots to see if anything would fill a gap or could be re-sold when this one caught my eye, but it certainly won't hurt to fill another gap with a definite rather than a might-be-but-cr*p example I just fear getting sidetracked into penny varieties, it's a long complicated and not cheap road to walk!
  18. the other phrase was somewhat less gentlemanly
  19. Its quite worn.. or VF for Very Flat,. but is that the remnants of something, or a large portion of nothing?
  20. Thanks guys, some semblance of sanity has been restored Very pleased as that was in a £10 lot along with a couple of viccies I was far more interested in!
  21. Looks like it had a piece of tape across the middle of it for quite some time. Other than that, a remarkably average example.
