  1. For those who haven't seen, the Royal Mint Museum has digitised some of the older annual reports: https://library.royalmintmuseum.org.uk/archive/royal-mint-annual-reports

  2. I like coins but when they are marketed so highly it really gets on my nerves: 1. overcharging an innocent customer 2. when that customer does find out it gives coin collecting a bad name 3. A waste 4. Over-exaggerating the value of a coin It is a shame as well because the London Mint produces some nice coins at reasonable prices (once every couple of years 😂)

  3. Going through some more duplicates, two 1887s stood out for different reasons. The sixpence for its vivid blue colour. And the half-crown for the quite even toning.

  4. I have a recollection of somebody MANY YEARS ago having images of desirable collectibles (coins, stamps, cards, etc.) as part of the listing; and in a small font and a white or light font color (so as to be virtually unreadable although searchable) the information that " This Auction is for a Photograph of the item imaged and NOT for the item itself. A lot of money passed hands from a lot of disappointed, disillusioned, disgusted, and disgruntled buyers. Not sure what the end result was of all the complaints though CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!

  5. I am not convinced that it is not die preparation. LOL. Double negative. I personally believe that it is polished die, and not planchet or proof. I don't have it in hand obviously but possibly more than simple a polished die as the lettering and even the QE II bust has a bit more refinement/detail of strike possibly. I guess that I really should get a specimen myself and can't argue with the minimal price either.

  6. This coin is up my alley but I am sorry that a missed stop on the designer's initials would not merit a separate Type IMO and more likely a filled die or such.

  8. Agree that F79 is underrated, quite pleased with my own example.

  9. Duplicate? You willing to sell? It's much better than my own example.
