Spot on @mrbadexample .......could potentially be 1914 - 1925, the surface finish can not be determined to narrow it down, but I suppose it would make sense to assume somewhere prior to 1918...but no guarantees.

The obverse is in such good nick, it cant have seen much circulation, are there any clues to the date of the coin Brian?

I'd love to see it in hand if you are going to TNS next week.

Ian..

Hi Ian

Thought it might be you Mike ,he told me today he had sent it someone ;)

More old school no photos just have a look and if your not happy send it back :)

Here it is anyway - in what I would estimate to be NEF/EF. In hand there is a trace of lustre in the devices.

Freeman 78 reverse

Freeman 78 obverse

As I don't seem to have a lot of luck posting actual images, I have posted image shack links again

Cheers Matt. That and the F76 I also recently got off e bay, are offsetting the disappointment of drawing a complete blank at the March LCA.

Mark Rasmussen has some nice pennies on his new list out today :)

Some lovely coin but rather optimistic pricing as far as I am concerned. Thanks for the headsup. Hope you found something thing you wanted.

Managed to get a day to myself so started sorting out my Bun Heads that I have so far. I found this 1861 which I think is a Gouby E +d but wanted to confirm if I was right. Any help appreciated. Thanks

To be honest if it wasn't for Richard's penny page I wouldn't have worked it out. I had missed the extra Leaf!!!

The easy way to tell a obv. J or freeman 6 is first, the B of BRITT is almost touching Victorias head, and the D G colons after D point to the tooth, with the ones after G pointing to the Gap.    Rev. d  has a small island to the left of the Lighthouse which has a pointed top . also the P in PENNY points to the tooth

Just bought a job lot of vickie bronze, gambling this is an F1 -  Link. Looks like raised lines on shield, but been fooled by eBay pictures before

I can't believe that a coin worth less than £10K 13 years ago can be worth over 4 times that now !!! But someone will probably cough up :(

It's in the Baldwin's sale Jac 30k estimate if I remember rightly?

Baldwins also had a uniface on the same day as one of the Bole sales in 2010. That hammered at 5K. Baldwins are setting their estimates too high. It might be related to their 'investment' portfolios.
