Paulus Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 (edited) Lots of options including Omnicoin, Photobucket, social media, etc, etc, but I would like to thank Nordle for recommending setting up a Wordpress website. After a few hours of using it I would also thoroughly recommend it - very functional, easy to use, and completely free. From a standing start I was able to set up the site in minutes, and have since been creating and uploading content (ongoing). This is what I have so far, and comments and tips from more experienced Wordpress users very welcome!https://pwcoins.wordpress.com Edited July 3, 2015 by Paulus 2 Quote
Coinery Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Could've put some decent coins on to inspire us, but otherwise OK! 1 Quote

Coinery Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 It will take a while but, one day, you'll be privy to the hammered shake! It's for the privileged shakey few...but it's a twisty-thumb, shake-your-bum, nod-your-head, twiddle-your-feet, club thing (but don't tell anyone!) ovtherwise I'd be outTG set it up about 2 years ago, with Rob as president, and Chris watching on behalf of the USSR government! They host it for you at no cost to you, 3 Gb of disk space (I am using 1 % so far)I had already watched the video Bagerap posted, it's very good but a little out of date, and begins with outlining the costs of setting up your own web domain and paying for it to be hosted, you don't need to do this. Fubar Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 A little suspicious of someone who employs "Happiness Engineers" (may just be my 60s Merchant Navy mentality) but otherwise seems like a good idea for a startup."The best supportOur Happiness Engineers work night and day through live chat, email, support pages, and forums to answer any questions you have." TomGoodheart Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 It really is a piece of p*** cakeHmmm ... Looks good P! Maybe I ought to consider it ...providing I don't have to resign my membership of Indolent Tendency* to get it to work.. ..actually I seem to remember it's Indolent Tendancy as my friend couldn't be bothered to check the spelling before getting the stuff printed .. sort of appropriate really. Rob Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Ah, the transatlantic invasion of words that invariably seem to be a little 'wrong' - such as ebay's or amazon's use of 'buyer/seller experience'.Globalisation has created many such incongrueties of which my favourite is probably the Mitsubishi Starion. Given the other two models were the Colt and Lancer, this had to be a misprunt based on a Japanese person interpreting a fellow countryman. Quote

Nordle11 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 It really is good for what you get for free. I found best practice was to spend a while playing with the layouts and themes and familiarising yourself with the functionality (it is sometimes difficult to find specific things) and do a quick Google search whenever you run into trouble. The hardest thing for me was trying to remove the b****y comments section from my main screen. Google sorted that for me though. Quote
Nightvision Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 WordPress has the advantage of a huge user base so support is rarely far away. It also has a massive range of themes Templates with a different look and feel) that you can change at the click of a button, also if you need more bells and whistles there are things called plugins that can add more specialist functions to your site. The website builders that are provided with Internet Service Providers are nice for beginners but sooner or later you encounter something they can't do. And if you want to change your provider you lose your site. WordPress has a backup function so you can keep your work and restore it elsewhere with the help of a techy person. disclaimer: I am not a techy, just have used it in the past and liked it a lot. Nightvision Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Paulus your site is excellent, I especially like the inclusion of historical details to add context. I had up til this point never seen a Henry 8 groat before. Quote
