morpheus1666 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I got a huge coing lot cause i started my coin collection recently(i wanted to collect just decimal coins but o found myself going beyond that line). the thing is that i have several coins to sell and i dont want to do it one by one so i was hoping to get ome advice of how to sell them at once.i organized them more or less so this is the list of most of them:1971 (number of coins)half penny coinsbulk lot of coins 71 pounds face value all of them previous 10p and 5p bigger size542 uk penny coins18 coins 1905-1910116 coins 1911-1920110 coins 1921-1930298 coins 1931-19408 half pennies 1941-1950193 pennies 1941-1950254 shillings 1947-19504 sixpences 1947-195063 florins 1947-1950104 threepences 1941-1945apart from this a couple more containers (like 400 or more coins) from 60´s i think. anybody knows how can i sell them and they are heavy so i dont want to visit any coin dealer and be told they dont worth a quid and carry them back xDthanks in advance for reading Quote
declanwmagee Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 have you thought about a scrap metal dealer? Quote
morpheus1666 Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 hi declan, was that ironic or a real advice? Quote
PWA 1967 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 The advice was that they are not worth anything Quote
Chris Perkins Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 The coppers probably are scrap copper in normal used condition. The brass threepences will also be scrap in used condition (apart from 1946 and 1949).The florins and shillings are technically worth face value (in normal used condition, which I bet they are) so the best you can do with those is take them to your bank and try to get them to credit your account with them (florins for 10p, shillings 5p). I have success at Natwest and have also managed it in the past at Barclays. And at the same time you can cash in the large 5p and 10p coins and the decimal halfpennies (although the scrap value for those is actually more than half pee each). declanwmagee Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Sorry Morpheus! No irony intended, honestly, but the world is so awash with that sort of thing, you'd be doing everyone a favour by getting them into the melting pot...really. 1 Quote
Gary Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Good advice from Chris and Declan is just being honest. Quote
ozjohn Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 If the language used in this post is representative of current usage then there are big problems with the school system. Never mind about the coins! Quote
ozjohn Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 The above comment refers to the initial post of course. Quote
Paulus Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) His second post was almost word perfect!Seriously though Morpheus (if you're still reading these posts), the advice given is correct unless amongst your Kgs you have some coins that are close to 'as they left the Mint' Edited December 3, 2014 by Paulus Quote

The content of your posts will be easily understood by anyone reading them here.As you point out, very few members would probably be able to make themselves as clear in a language other than English.Continue posting. Coinery Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 In which case, Morpheus, you have done exceedingly well, as I would never have guessed that English wasn't your first language, rather that you were an Englishman with a few literary hitches!Well done, do stay onboard! Quote
