azda Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Must be one of the nicest busts i've seen on George, and no, i haven't bought it, just sharing my admiration of the coin Quote
Peter Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Go on Azda...tell us all how much it's going for. Quote
scott Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 and a fantastic reverse as well. i got a normal 2 normal 1918's one with great obverse one with great reverse, i was expecting to see similar, my good reverse one seems to have dye cracks as well. Quote
Rob Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) That's more like it. Even I could get enthusiastic about a penny with that depth of strike given I need a KN for the collection. The regular offerings are depressing. I've just thrown a handful of KNs that were better than the current ebay s***e. Having said that, it's still got a few marks at the bottom of the obverse and a funny stain on the head. Edited March 11, 2011 by Rob Quote
Peckris Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Must be one of the nicest busts i've seen on George, and no, i haven't bought it, just sharing my admiration of the coinThat MUST be an early strike. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for well into 4 figures, maybe £2500 or so. Quote

VickySilver Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Yes, I concur that is obviously one of the better strikes I have seen but sadly has the rim marks and also scattered friction both obv. and rev. Technical grade would be PCGS 55 I should think.I had some luck with my own and count myself lucky. 2500? Wow, that seems high still & was thinking 1200. Then again, compared to the looney buns maybe 2500 is a bargain! Quote

Rob Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 If you're going into proofs and patterns then welcome aboard. Sometimes it feels a bit lonely as virtually the only collector of these items on this forum. Come on all you admirers of said items - fill your boots instead of just window shopping, there is enough material out there to go around. Quote
