I'm warming up to you but not in manly state...my forays into Jockland have been good...we toured Ayr and the West coast and I can't remember a bloody thing....the Indian restuarant with a full Indian Jock threw me :P We also went skinney dipping and the pictures were underexposed

Its better around the Perthshire area, Pitlochry, Tummel Valley (my brother has a static caravan there)Kenmore where i went camping as a kid and remember going for a swim in the River at 6am, it was so calm and great weather we loved it as kids, getting a little commercial now, but still have fond memories of Kenmore and i go back whenever i use my brothers van as it's only about 10-15 miles from Tummel along the wwinding roads. Then there's Blair Atholl, my great uncle worked there and the Duke of Atholl is the only other person in the UK with his own private army other than the Queen

Mrs D has alway wanted to go to Scotland so this year we have 2 week in a caravan on the Ayr coast and a night in an Edinburgh travelodge for £9, that the travelodge not the caravan, that cost £119. Ain't that prices to gladden a scotsmans heart.

Yep, I saw that on the Antiques Roadshow last Sunday.

Don't know if you or anybody else has been watching the superb "Great Railway Journeys" series 2, with Michael Portillo, but he's covering parts of Scotland in the last week of the series, as follows:-

Journey 5

Ep 21 Ayr to Paisley 31/1/2011

Ep 22 Dumbarton to Tyndrum 1/2/2011

Ep 23 Oban to Corrour 2/2/2011

Ep 24 Roybridge to Glenfinnan 3/2/2011

Ep 25 Lochailort to Skye 4/2/2011

Here's something I just saw on Ebay :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Five-pound-coin-Horatio-Nelson-2005-legal-Tender-/120676350084?pt=UK_Coins_BritishDecimal_RL&hash=item1c18def884

I'm used to seeing poor quality photos of coins on Ebay, but this one is beyond belief. I'm not even sure it's a coin.

Yes but be fair - the seller describes it as a "shocking picture" - can't do HIM under the Trades Descriptions

Ha, I didn't notice that disclaimer first time I looked!

Can anyone tell me why there are listings on Ebay for common pound coins in no better condition than most pocket change? I'm relatively new to all this so maybe I'm missing something.

Basically because there are punters who think there's an easy few bob to be made, and that there are mugs to make it out of. Or sad people with too much time on their hands (teenage boys trying to raise cash for their next computer game). Who knows? What we hate is the fact that all that crap clogs up eBay's coin listings and makes it a pain to sift through.

A Rarety

Rocking horse dooda comes to mind!

Without seeing the reverse, it's a little difficult to say whether it's a misnamed 1937, or a 1947 colonial issue e.g. South Africa or New Zealand.
