Provenance should be confirmed to establish authenticity...... Quote

Badger Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 As far as I know, these are foil imprints of the real coin. If it is the same one I know about, it was sold as part of a lot of 3 a few years back, 1933, 1954 and 1862 coronet, they realised good money when sold. Here are the pics of the lot of 3Extremely well done and as you say difficult to do Quote

At the moment the old man has it sitting in the oddments tray in the cabinet. May well be worth passing it on to some total imbecile on ebay!!!! Quote

May well be worth passing it on to some total imbecile on ebay!!!!I know, I was very tempted to sell one of my altered dates too. It was only last year that 2 were sold on Ebay. I bought 1 of mine for £32 and my friend made one for me. It takes a lot of patience and a very steady hand. It took my friend 5 Pennies (1931s) to make one for me and about 2 hours. I don't have them or pictures here but I will take them over next time and add pics with close ups. They are quite obviously altered but still quite good. A couple of people have asked me with a smile on their face 'do you have a 1933?' their faces totally change when you say yeah, show them and ask what the fuss is about with a 1933 Quote

azda Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 This one is from a certain coin house in Manchester that they sold, hope they don't mind either. Don't know how much they sold it for, but it was listed like soPattern by Andre Laurillier. Freeman 786. R19. BMC 2284. As struck with underlying lustre. 1 of only 4 in existence. The most important and renowned date of penny !! Quote

azda Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 The 1st 1933 picture i posted is from the seller of the foil impression. The impression is from that coin, you can see on the OBV of both the foil impression and the actual coin the 2 hair marks, so anyone going to have a pop at this? Is that provenance enough? Quote
